The coolest bit of a manual transmission is the power control that you get from the 'clutch'. This is basically an AMT without the automatic option.

Have been driving imt for 3 years, I have driven manual all my life and beleive me imt is amazing. It is much closer to manual than AMT. AMT in manual mode has a mind of its own, like it will downshift automatically when you slow down. Nothing of that happens in IMT unless you actually shift it. IMT is manual clutch less transmission. You get 99% of features from manual, absolute breeze to drive in city traffic, everything you need on highways.

@jeevanchaukar4 жыл бұрын
There was one more step-through two wheeler called Hero Honda Street which allowed you to change gears without any clutch and the vehicle engine didn't stall even if you accidentally stopped while being in 4th gear. But other than this feature, it was not such a good bike. Also, in India many times instead of how good a product is, merely the projection or image of that product matters a lot. Tata Nano was a fantastic car by all means. But the perception among people that this is a poor man's car and if we buy this car then others will assume that we are poor caused a lot of problem to this car (apart from Mamata Banerjee this was the other reason for Nano to fail). Ideally, a good product should be accepted just as a good product - why worry about what others think about it? But NO, in India, many times what others think matters way too much compared to what you want for yourself. Now a days that has started changing and people are also now used to getting a lot of variety in the technology across all kinds of products and they are now much more willing to try things that are outside a typical mould or mindset.

This is a great opportunity for Hyundai to brand all manual transmission as old, outdated technology. They could do something innovative on pricing and branding- to get minimum orders to convert to iMT, offer it as same price as manual transmission! This could be difficult for the base variants, but should be possible from mid-variants upwards. And start introducing IMT to all Hyundai cars. This could really hurt Maruti by pulling in a significant proportion of the urban customer base to Hyundai. and paints Hyundai as superior to all their major competitors. That sort of branding is gold for customer perception. It can also be a cheap upgrade to anybody interested in a torquey diesel vehicle by completely avoiding the heavy clutch problem! So, can be used to target Mahindra and Tata SUV buyers with a basic Hyundai diesel SUV.
