I appreciate this demonstration. Maybe even especially with the included failure. It just makes it that much more informative... and raises questions as to how the model could be improved 👍🏻

Have you seen the printer that has a sort of conveyor belt that allows for virtually infinite x-axis printing? That could be a cool method for one/two part print
@TeaObvious Жыл бұрын
the disadvantage of the belt printer might be, that you much stronger rely on layer adhesion. So it might not be strong enough.
@tysonfriend878911 ай бұрын
we should try making mix of printed and some other materials to reinforce its weaknesses to increase the poundage

Could you please share the plans for the bow string jig? Was that 3d printed too?

Hey yeah that is also printed but not my design. I have a video on my channel for 3d printed rope. All information and where to get that jig is there :)

If you make your parts 20% to 30% infill with a lot of little holes on the surface then you can paint them with resin and it will soak in and make them very strong. It really helps to put them in a vacuum to suck all the air out and then when you let air back into the chamber the resin will get pulled into the part. If you don't have a vacuum chamber put them in a ziplock bag with resin and hold the bottom half of the bag under water with the top open, it will force resin into the print, but not as well as a vacuum chamber.
@paintballercali Жыл бұрын
resin is very stiff and brittle this needs to be flexible and impact resistant. The glow filament is probably the worst thing he could of picked. polymaker polymax pla is probably the best thing on the market for this.
@musikSkool Жыл бұрын
@@paintballercali The resin is brittle, but the plastic isn't.

This is really cool! what filaments material types would you advise for trying this, and have you looked into a conveyor belt 3d printer? I found out they have a kit for the ender 3 Creality that i think would allow you to make the limbs one piece without having to get a bigger printer.
@m3chs_makes2 жыл бұрын
For now it is all PlA. I am.thinking about using different printers like.the ender CR7 for a bigger surface but for it to have any major meaning I need to have like 60cms of length and that is rare
@THOR_THE_GOD Жыл бұрын
@m3chs_makes Use pla+ it's not as brittle and used in 3d printed firearms! 💯
@davidlong3696 Жыл бұрын
Try making the limbs with a z splice at each joint.

i fully expected this to just be another 3d printed "bow" that is actually just a slingshot before i clicked the video, Nice! also the speed of the arrow i have found when making bows, is created mostly by the tension on the string before the draw which could be corrected with slightly longer limbs and no pre made bend, is there any reason to why it has a pre built bend in it? was it snapping?
@jzjzjzj Жыл бұрын
ive never 3d printed before so i dont know the rigidity of the filament but a lighter arrows would go so much better with the low draw weight of the bow
@jzjzjzj Жыл бұрын
which can pretty much be summed up, if the bow isnt hard to string, its not going to be powerful
@m3chs_makes Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your thoughts and feedback! By now I have a version that is not pre bend. To be honest, when I started working on this I had no idea what a bow looks like prior to stringing. I am right now booting up a new lab and as soon thats done I will post a new iteration.
