I think your 505's must've been altered because technically 505's are baggier through the thigh compared to 501's

I think the discrepancy may come from the 505's being 3-5 inches too big for my waist and the 501's fitting snuggly. My fault for an inaccurate comparison! Also for reference, I have another pair of 505's now and they fit the same as this pair 👍

My 505c's are easily my favorite pair of jeans. Been eyeing up the style for like a year, I looked at the regular 505 but they seemed just a hair too boxy on me as a petite female. I found the 505c which Levi's described as a modern take on the 505, with a slimmer fit and they were perfect! Only downside (if you could even call it that) was I had to get the 32 in length instead of 30, but i just cuff them so whatever. Also got them 85% off. Definitely recommend them for ladies who want the style but are afraid of the regular 505 cut being just slightly too big,

Being just turned 50 never thought I would be watching a show about fashion. But being not in the States anymore and Levi's seem to have too many number's. Anyhow I needed to know the difference between these to since 501 jeans are sky high here. I do remember them bringing back the 501 Jean's whatever the year was when I was younger. Before that the store I bought from had straight leg and bootcut only and don't know what number they were because numbers didn't matter then. But in comparison I prefer the look of the black jeans here.

I'm not sure if they'll fit the exact same, but I do know my pair is fairly recent. Based off of the tags and inseam stitching they're for sure sometime after the 80's. I'd guess similar but not exact? Worth trying em out. But I'd go second hand just to give some another life.

505 is way more comfortable then 501, I love them. For even more comfort, if you can justify the higher price is the athletic 541. Stay away from 550 unless you like wearing a curtain around your legs.

Kriss Kross 505’s sit at the waist so do the 510’s which are a skinny leg. The 517’s and the 550’s also sit at the waist but the 517’s are bootcut and the 550’s are a relaxed baggy style.

It sometimes depends on the era they’re from. The 501 for instance has had the same basic concept since its inception but the leg and the fit have been altered slightly depending on the time period.

Keep in mind, any pants look good on a low BMI physique. Also keep in mind, Levis' has awful quality control and the sizing is wildly inconsistent, even between the same model numbers in different colors.
