I have a few suggestions for the Hank Tank: armored glas would be a good addition to the vehicle since then the tape bots can't get through it (and it looks cool) And maybe put the spot lights at a 20° angle so the beams of light line up with each other on the ground. (And maybe make the headlights 2 blocks wide so the line up with the middle of the bumper things

You can use the pistons to make a vehicle lift that folds out of the back of Hank Tank so that you can bring caged farmers on top of your vehicle, you can also park mining vehicle on the top and you can use it as an elevator to quickly get to the top of your vehicle too.

About fertilizer: you could make some from Seeds. Idea for the Hank-Tank: Add some vacuum pumps so you could collect items (like circuit boards) while driving. Would also work for oil, water and chemicals. Didn't try it yet but maybe a vacuum pump can collect flowers, too.

Might be worth changing the stealing bars for lag, I would suggest swapping out the back of the front one and the front of the back one so that you have just one rectangle for your wheels. Should keep the wheels from flopping with less bearings and blocks, while still keeping the suspension moving largely independent.

I think it would be cool to have flaps on top of the roof that are high enough that the bedroom fits under it while the flaps are closed. This way, you can connect them to a bearing, then to a controller and the sensor system. So when you are driving, you can store creates on top of the bedroom.

I’m not sure how this would work in survival mode but instead of a mining vehicle that’s separated from the main base would it be more efficient and less laggy if you had a crane mechanism with a saw or drill bit. Instead of being articulated by electric motors controllers set to move at 5 or 10 degrees at a time might be better than electric motors

I think the inefficiency with mining actually comes from lag affecting how the game calculates, because it was way faster when Scrapman put his base on a lift I also think the resource collecters constantly search for rods around them so they are laggy and affect efficiency when placed on his mining vehicle

If you rotate the flood lights out as well as down, you can both increase the spread and decrease the overlap and overly bright areas. I love the space up top for hauling and how that worked out. It looks intentional! Hauling (and lag) are my nomad van's biggest weaknesses. It's much smaller than the hank tank, but manages to also pack a clothing bot and a watering system. I hate watering by hand.

A few ways you could reduce lag would be to make it smaller lengthwise, there is some length in between the refine bot and the craftbot that you can cut out. Also separate the back wheels by a block, it will help even more. Also the pistons can be used to make a door that sides in and out like Komso did for the magic bus.

Suggestion for your steering system: The bearings you explained in the last episode that allow the stabilizing bar to flex are only needed because the stabilizing bar is on the suspended part of the steering system. If you swapped the suspension with the steering bearing, you could get rid of them. The setup would (from top to bottom) look like this: * The "steering pivot" bearing; * The arm that the stabilizing bars attach to (1 high, 1 central block and 2-3 blocks coming out in the forwards and/or backwards direction); -- on the bottom side of the end(s) of that arm, bearings where the stabilizing bars attach -- on the bottom directly below the "steering pivot" bearing the suspension; * on it's bottom a block that the wheel axle is attached to. With the stabilizing bars sitting higher than before, you have to make sure that they don't rub against your floor. Might need to zig-zag them down to where they have a full block gap or use small pipe pices for a half block gap.

Suggestion for the sliding problem at 4:15. For preventing your vehicle from sliding: Instead of having high-friction blocks on the extending pistons, put a ring of blocks there that you can put a peg through - since the peg is connected to the ground, it won't move at all. If you want to upgrade that system, you should be able to use vacuum pumps filled with cardboard / bubble blocks to automatically place those pegs and a mountable spud gun to automatically remove the pegs. To have those 2 aim at the same spot, you'll probably need to angle them, though.

Solution for the 'still moving' sliding problem. Have small wheels extract and hook them up to an electric motor and have 2 switches. So have 2 small wheels in the front, and 2 at the back all aligned sideways. If you flip the one switch the 1 wheel at the front and 1 wheel at the back will drive very slowly to counteract the sliding. The other switch will activate the other wheel in the opposite direction if you are sliding the other way. Electric motor needs to be in a visible location so as to adjust the speed as needed.

If you put a third bar in the middle for the breaking system. It might do better since the surface is evenly spread across the whole vehicle. The middle is where the most weight is in the vehicle, thats where you need a brake pad to keep the vehicle from sliding.

3 Suggestions, for the sliding problem, the steering system problem and the roof: 1: For the roof patio: Leave 7 blocks space between any items you place there, so that the fruit crates still fit up there. 2: For the sliding problem at 4:15. I.e. from top to bottom you would have: "Steering pivot" hinge; * a short arm (1 block tall) for attaching the steering bars; * at it's bottom both -- the top of the suspension (directly under the "steering pivot" hinge) -- and the steering bar(s) (on a "steering bar turning" hinge); * a single block (or pipe corner) and on it's side the hinge for the wheel axle. That way you only have 5-6 parts (excluding the wheels) and 6-8 bearings per axle (compared to 10 and 12 now). With the stabilizing bars attaching higher up than they do now, you might need to do some more zig-zaggy routing (or build them out of thin pipe pieces) to keep them at a full or a half block distance from rubbing against the floor. Also please try making the arm that the steering stabilizer bar attaches to as long as you can get away with. Last time you only tried taking one of the stabilizing bars out, but not lengthening the leverage. Given that it only failed when driving in 1 of the 2 possible directions, doubling or tripling the leverage for the stabilizing bar (by having a 1 or 2 block gap between the steering hinge and the hinge for the stabilizing bar) could fix or mitigate that problem.

Get more big lights and hook them up to the top sides of the Hank-Tank. Except have them fold down(inset in the top facing down) and turn off when you are driving, but have them fold out and turn on when you are parked. It will help while farming, and maybe help snipe during raids

A rule suggestion for people wanting to do a nomad survival run: You must mark all farming locations so that you can't accidentally reuse them. As a basic marking structure, I'd say a minimum 15 tall pillar of any material you happen to have on hand. (And as other's have mentioned: Don't forget you can use extra seeds to make fertilizer.)

Have you considered a timer loop & switch for your packing-station dispenser, so you don't have to mash the button repeatedly? Doesn't really matter if you dispense one too many since they'll stay in the packing station indefinitely, and the output is filtered so you can't dispense the wrong thing into the wrong slot.

While I don't think making the area of contact larger improves the friction, it's important to note that ScrapMechanic groups up the whole bar into one big parallelepiped and computes the parallelepiped as one piece. This makes very significant difference for rafts, for instance, if you just carve some holes on the edges of a flat slab it balances much better on the water, this might be the same case.

Try turning the steering mechanism into one rod rather than two, then connect the wheels on the same side together with blocks, so that you are halving the amount of bearings while losing little functionality. On the wheels, it would be bearing, wheel, blocks connecting to second wheel, then another bearing if you go from back to front. You would do this for all the wheels, along with potentially trying to make it work off of one steering bar rather than two.

I imagine the excessive wheel setup is having issues with the weight of the vehicle. This could be causing more stuttering. Wheels can interfere with each other as well. Putting the top lights all on the same bearing pair would reduce the number of subgrids. I'd look at the whole vehicle and find things that could be attached by single bearings rather than as separate ones. Each subgrid attached to the main grid will cause more physics calculations to be necessary.

I'm pretty sure I learned this from one of your videos covering the update when they added this in, which was the update they added the corn breaking and oil ponds. You can craft fertilizer with a craftbot. Sure it's a total of 30 seeds; 10 carrot, red beet, and tomato each; for only 5 fertilizer, but how many extra seeds to you end up picking up while you're nomad-ing around? I'm just saying you have a way of making it without the farmer-eating middleman. Besides the angle down on the area lights on top, you need them angled out. They're overlapping so much your basically got a redundant system with them. If you had each on of them facing out by 20 degrees, it would widen your the coverage a lot more as well as get rid of that hot spot, or at least shrink it.

I think the sliding comes from the calculation of the friction in the physics engine of the game. My guess is, that friction is calculated based on the velocity. Close to zero velocity creates near-zero friction which makes the vehicle slide slowly and fails to stop the vehicle. Neither the cactus nor the concrete will change the way friction is calculated.

Ya, I've encountered Farmbots where there it's not forested that much as well. There was a few spots near the shoreline in my first save where there was always a Farmbot. Even if I had just killed it like 5 minutes ago. It made getting from my base to the oil area very difficult if I wasn't expecting him.
