If you want to improve it, try adding suspension to the wheels. You'd only need 1 piece of sports suspension, connecting the lower bar with the two lower wheels to the upper section. If you made it normally not fit on the rail, you'd be able to turn down the resistance and compress the suspension a block to push it on. Then you could up the resistance and it would force the wheel against the rail for better contact.

You guys could put a rail above the docks that would hang over the center of the ferry. Then you would have an adjustable hook that you could weld on top of the vehicles in order to get the vehicles centered. You could also do two hooks so the vehicle doesn't twist as it guides itself onto the ferry. There could be a locking mechanism on the ferry that would allow it to hook onto the dock so it doesn't move as you unload or load up a vehicle.
@TheAlison14563 жыл бұрын
An alternative way of doing this is using two lines of bubble or glass blocks just below the water surface and placing a wheeled platform over them. Above water you wouldn't see the "ferry" is really a bridge. It would fix balancing issues too.

I see two J's on each end of the ferry on bearings that are connected to pistons. the pistons extend and the J's rotate to the side of the dock. Making contact with two underwater pillars. Then they retract locking the Ferry in place against the dock...and then click switch again and the pistons extend the J away from the pillar and then rotate the lock bar back under the ferry while retracting to not cause drag. no more Ferry moving away from dock while trying to board or de-board.

I have never played scrap mechanic. This being said, the way I see this working is maybe creating a bracket/fork that transitions to the direction of travel... that creates a pinch on the rails with the wheels? What if you had a constant bouncy to make tension so that the ferry doesn't tilt? Like adding a bunch of bubble directly below the ferry therefore having it half sunk so when weight is added it doesn't sink, and then the wheels will always be pushed against the rail because it's always trying to go up.

You can have bars on pistons pushing against vehicle from each side to keep vehicles from moving, pistons should be on highest settings (enough for smallest vehicle to fit in) no need have variable setting. Another thing you can do is have sensor system to pop out stoppers. And why do you have rail so low, I guess having it up a bit should reduce the problems. And talking about ferry sure it looks good but it's not optimal and at this time it is floating monorail so I guess you should go for monorail instead.
