It's kind of weird and fascinating that so much "American food" I see on the internet is made from already existing processed food. Like here QT makes use of crackers, I am assuming it's biscuits. I also see lot of people making food from Oreos.

Most of the time it's more cost and time efficient to use something that has the exact same ingredients that you were going to use anyway. If you're cooking at home, I think it's better to consider your options before going wild. I also use things like crackers as a substitute when cooking european dishes, I couldn't use them for any of my local foods unfortunately :(
