tbh i expected you to build a fighter to counter my bomber. That carrier totally took me by suprise. 17:47 The B-Copter move was a mistake. I wanted to stay out of range but forgot to double check. 18:33 yes that was unbelievably dumb. I should have trashed you AA with the bomber and keep threatening your carrier or your neotanks. 22:03 yes the AA was supossed to kill infantry and if possible deny some areas for your T-Copters. Didnt work of course, like every plan i had in that match :D 24:09 the rain really annoyed the hell out of me. I could have done so muchg without the rain :D 25:31 yeah i really didnt see that AA 27:43 yeah the match was decided even before your second typhoon hit me but after that i just yoloed through^^ i am happy you uploaded this even if it shows to the world how incompetend i am :D

This map kind of showcases a problem I’ve seen on a few of the AWBW maps you’ve played. Granted, I have not seen any other than those you have chosen to upload, but the trend seems to follow a pattern. On maps where naval units could actually legitimately have a shot at being useful, like this one, they’re totally invalidated by the overuse of shoals and minimal presence of naval-accessible water tiles. Imagine how much control of the corners each player could have if there were one extra water tile of space for movement in the south and north and the port wasn’t shoal blocked. Suddenly each players Airport would be critical to breaking through your opponents potential naval defence line to go for an HQ cap (as it would be just barely outside carrier range when factoring in the existing Shoal), while battleships could aid your middle of the map push. (For obvious balance leaving the middle-most lakes blocked by shoals to avoid battleships dominating the opponents production area.) Instead the map has a huge number of Shoals and the only naval units worth building in any situation other than High-Income are BB’s and Landers. The Ports might as well just be regular bases that only produce APC’s at that point, since almost everything else cannot leave the port. Yes, Naval units are generally a bad investment due to their cost, but part of the problem is also that in situations where they could have been a good investment, maps are designed in such a way that such an investment is no longer really viable. Such as this one. If you could move the carriers, even a couple of spaces, Naval forces would instantly be a strong, solid, investment choice here, especially as Drake (or if these were DoR Carriers that could build Seaplanes, turning it into a sort of Point Defence base, but that’s a separate point of consideration with its own pros and cons). Seriousness aside, this was quite a silly match, which is exactly the kind of match I like to watch. Super serious advance wars play is fine, especially if it’s a very close match, but at the end of the day it is a game, and games should be fun. Silly matches like this one are exactly the kind of thing that should happen every now and then. Plus it’s always nice to see under-used or under-appreciated units actually get some legitimate use, however limited that might be.

Days of Ruin generally is better when it comes to Naval. And I really feels that the players tend to dislike the naval gameplay because air is just so stupidly strong vs everything, And even naval maps, if there are airports, tends to degenerate the naval map to be airfoce maps. Another issue is that Cruisers in the Advanced wars games not DoR are bad at being anti-air units, which just is one extra tick to why air is superior to naval gameplay vice. I prefer my cool battleships though.

10:45 This is something I always thought about. If you are Drake and you build a single fighter, you get your value back if your opponent has to build a fighter to respond. So, even though Drake fighter has -20% firepower, it still is a profitable response to the rock paper scisors if you ensure Drake's fighter won't be taken down by anti air or missiles/carrier. Drake's fighter has to be respected just as a regular fighter, due to how fighters are the only air units that can attack air (aside from stealth that are occasionally banned and get wrecked by fighters)

Crystal tears has 179 games played as of this post which is statistically relevant and P2 has a 49% win rate with 88 wins. If it was too much for P2 to have that extra city, we would see it reflected here. Can hold and resupply air units. As an indirect, it can target air units (just like missiles) with an absurd range. It's a map lockdown tool when it comes to air supremacy, but because it's 30K, there's usually more useful units to have built with that instead.

Now this is what I call effective clickbait. "Booming up" okay boomer So I don't know much about HF but it seems like a good carrier. Instantly counters what he just built and even threatens the copter, and I like indirects against max because it shifts the battle onto an axis Max has trouble competing on. If you were to only fight directly, you would think an equally competent Max would win eventually (let's ignore the fact that Drake probably has the advantage because of how Typhoon scales, better than Max's entire kit imo). On the other hand Max has movement on his CO powers and will probably slip by and do extreme damage to it eventually. I don't like the idea of attacking the carrier with the bomber as he begins doing. That's just free CO charge for a CO who is mostly going to win because of his Typhoon, and he's probably not going to kill it anyway because you will obviously meatshield it and also build anti air, and the carrier will repair. When the enemy has a much better CO power than you, you really want to focus heavily on objectives and only make moves that directly help you take objectives, because pointless conflict just charges up their better CO power. Damaging that carrier doesn't really matter for the situation on the ground. He needs to be worrying about the ground situation and properties on the bottom right and in the top left. He should actually probably fly to the top left. It'll be awhile before you can get anti air up there. If he just puts that bomber anywhere else, he ends up cancelling your 40k investment. *sigh* So after you didn't protect the carrier correctly (maybe should have built the anti air out of the right side base? You don't need a neotank there right now) he really should be wreaking havoc back there by destroying the anti air. This is just kinda bizarre behavior but maybe he didn't check the damage his bomber would actually do in this situation. Nice increasing your power score on the final turns.

11:20 Carrier is a good response. Max mistake was building a bomber straight away (22k) which allowed you to spend 30k in an anti air artillery which will slow down the pace of the game and potentially bottleneck Max. Max can find a way to work around that Carrier but it will take some time, and by then you'll get a good amount of funds to create another response. Imo Max should have started his air army with a chopper

Lmao, a 700 League point player (Bremer) going against an 828 League point player (Mangs), how is that fair Mangs hahaha. Matchmaking in AWBW is still weird to me. That would explain the big difference in skills and decision making between you two. But in all honesty, Bremer should have won that match with that silly Carrier purchase hahaha. Bremer's hesitation to use his Bomber during the early turns caused him the entire match. He should have gone aggressive with the Bomber and pushed south in the middle with all his Neotanks instead of moving them left. He would have overrun the middle, took Mangs' Comm Tower, and made a death push towards the HQ to finish the game.

There is a real reason why Drake gives defence to boats Drake is namely based off of a British Sailor (Sir Francis Drake and all that) And in WW2, the British Ships in the Pacific were MUCH better at taking fire from the Japanese, even being able to survive Kamikaze Crashes with minimal denting.

I feel like the only CO that could ever make a carrier even a little significant for zoning out bombers is Grit as he ACTUALLY does have the range to zone out bombers. But his only high tier so matches like that will not happen as often. The fact carriers cant do this without that extra 1 range is a huge flaw for the unit itself. You know its bad when a 30K unit cant counter a 22K unit lol. So its just never gonna be financially worth it. Thats 2 Anti Airs and 2 Tanks lol... then again... could even send 3 battle copters at a carrier and its only gonna take one down and thats still 18K of battle copters you got to get within range of the now helpless carrier lmao... it just gets hard countered even by what its meant to bring down... XD
