I added BOWSER MODE to Mario Odyssey

What if when you beat Mario Odyssey you unlocked a mode that let you replay through the entire game as Bowser? Today we find out exactly what that would have looked like! This was a ton of a fun to put together so I hope you enjoy the video!

Watching this makes me realize why all of bowsers castles are built so strangely. It’s not a flawed security system, bowser just lives like that and doesn’t realize it’s dangerous. It’s like when you put the peanut butter on the top shelf and don’t realize it’s a problem until your short girlfriend can’t reach it

Honestly, it is pretty funny that given his fashion aesthetic, his preference for overtly dangerous castles, the Koopalings’ names and the Reznors, the fact that outside of Peach kidnapping and kingdom conquering he is otherwise decent, and plenty of times where he wishes to look cool that Bowser is an edgy Koopa who revels in the classic metal aesthetic.

​@@kirbo4252 Now that we think about it, it'll have been almost 20 years since the last Peach game, Super Princess Peach, released on the DS when Princess Peach: Showtime releases. However, Bowser has gotten no games where he's the protagonist... Most of the major Mario characters that aren't Mario have their own games & series of games where they're the protagonist -- with Luigi getting Luigi's Mansion, Toad getting Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Yoshi (of course), Wario getting WarioWare, and several other characters getting their own games. I can see that the odds of Bowser possibly getting a game of his own are very, very low, but not zero. I wonder if Nintendo's planning to make one some day...

This is just so satisfying! It truly gives off the vibes of Bowser's raw power, a feeling I haven't fully appreciated for a while (Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story probably, or maybe Mario Galaxy, though maybe both are just me). This entire run felt like Meta Knightmare in Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, where Meta Knight only has the one sword move to use, so it just can do anything like activate pegs and fuses and stuff, so Fir just keeps learning more and more new stuff that Bowser has to be able to do with his two moves for him to be usable in most of the game. Wish Nintendo would do that kind of thing more

@@alexread6767 Not directly, but it's got a ton of abilities the normal Hammer ability doesn't, and some properties on abilities that Hammer doesn't normally have. The dash attack has water properties now, for example, and if you hold B, you can fire a shot out of your hammer to cut ropes (the game was Triple Deluxe btw, love that game!)

Watching this made me realise that I'd love a game where you play as Bowser through the main game, and you enjoy a lot of immunities and can just brute force your way through things. But in the post game you unlock Mario mode and you need to replay levels when things like enemies and lava actually mean something.

This "Bowser Mode" mod is basically a concept for a prequel/side-story hybrid DLC mode for Bowser that would be introduced as one of the waves for a hypothetical, yet potential "Super Mario Odyssey: Expansion Pass" and I love it 💖

@@Nat_the_Chickenthe final stones probably just have a rock property, the fireball is an altered hat, the hops are identical… The broodal ones actually doing damage is probably added, though not certainly, weird interactions do exist. The jump doing damage is still there, the claw swipes do indeed do damage, as proven by how directly injected bowser can do damage by clawing into Madam Broodal’s face while sort of clipping into her.

I'd love if Nintendo made games or dlc like this where you get to play as diffrent characters in the same style as the regular game. Like actually playing as bowser rather then choosing what he does in a turn based game seems like a really cool idea for a mario game. Maybe he has to save Mario because there is a diffrent big bad that captured peach before him so he is not strong enough to beat em on his own

the coolest part to me is that the mechawiggler can actually be damaged before the fight even starts. I'd fully expect it to just be a static object that exists just for the trigger but for some reason they put the actual boss there and allowed it to take damage and I have no idea why

Mod idea: king of hill. Basically you have a marked area in a map and every 35 - 40 seconds to marked area changes to a diffrent location of the map, the person who stays in the marked area the longest after 20 minutes gets a point, the person who reaches 5 points first wins.

It would be really cool to see you speedrun this with the tech you learned and try to beat the mario WR. Maybe if the mod added some features to avoid the times you had to leave bowser, it could become a popular speedrun. For example by turning the wire captues into the same as the last wire in moon, where mario and bowser is in the capture at the same time, and perhaps even coding bowser to be able to climb pokio walls, like he does in that one bowser's fury minigame.

I came up with a little alternate timeline story to explain this lol So bowser realises the only way to stop Mario is to destroy the Power Moons so he can't progress This is his journey to do so! I guess the bosses are trying to stop him, because the moons are probably very important to them It also explains why he can "collect" moons with fireballs

I love that you can make it lore accurate. Bowser can climb steep cliffs because of his claws. He's poison and heat resistant because of his thick skin. He cant swim because he's so dense but he can hold his breath for such a long time because his lungs are so huge. Dude's a beast.
