As an American, I appreciate your efforts to make the videos with English language within them. Shoyan is a wonderful craftsman. As long as I've watched his videos I've always wondered what he has spoken. Now, with the language translator it is wonderful to hear his words. Thank you for your efforts to translate the Japanese language into English.

Sir, As you once again proven, proper lay out is the key to a job well done. Although we may work in far and distant countries, watching your methods of work brings back memories of my time as an American carpenter, always striving to do good work. Thank you once again for a video worthy of your work. Mark Adams

@shanedevon6447 lol you sure git the nail on the head there, friend. Let's see. 27 years in the industry. I own a restoration company. I specialize in restoring historical homes. Most of the things we have to do are hand-made and have been discontinued for 100 years. So no, I don't worry about the craftsmanship. The craftsmanship is there. But..... you show me one carpenter in the States claiming to be on the level of a Japanese carpenter like this guy. Just one. Not a cabinet maker, not a trim carpenter. A regular carpenter doing what they do and I will tell you up front, they're lying. No one here does that work. It is not economical here. Takes too long and too expensive here. There that's what what they do, part of their culture. If your thin skinned enough to take offense, then so be it. Maybe knitting is some of your own advice you should take.

Examples were offered in order to help another and in order to draw comparison between methods it pays to actually compare examples. Neither style is identical and there are very obvious differences.

I’m wondering about dampness being trapped under the floor ...the concrete foundations are continuous... I see you installed a plastic ventilation on the sill... can small creatures get through the vent..? Is this enough ventilation ... ? I’m surprised there are no vents incorporated into the concrete foundation. I’m asking questions because I’m always thinking of ways to support a wooden structure that deal with dampness and creature ingress..!
@gazpal
@gazpal Жыл бұрын
The space between sole plate and foundation is well ventilated, while the area beneath floor level is intended as a crawl space (services) and allows intermediate beam supports to be adjusted. Damp should not be a problem because waterproof membrane are in place as external, exposed foundation is typically below final ground level.

@@yusuihangThat ShawnWitty has been popping up with unhelpful impolite comments. You may well not be able to find something like the sill vent where you are, with regional changes in regulations and standards some products simply don't exist unless you want to go down the very specialist supplier's or extreme route of importing from abroad which involves trying to find contacts prepared to ship and dealing with language barriers. There will be a regional standard method for ventilation that your local suppliers will have, might be something like vent bricks instead. I for example simply do not have a supply for all the metal connectors that the Japanese use to reinforce the joinery. Atleast within a budget, with a massive wallet you can get anything.
