The other good thing dragging the tops out is it gets Kate and Alice in shape. The way you make sure not to hurt them shows what type of person you are. Besides them being a tool, like the log cart, God gave us dominion over them. That means we need to make sure they are healthy. God bless, my brother

Yes, sir, I do believe that with all my heart. We are to be good stewards over the things that God has blessed us with. Our animals included. And I also believe that if an animal is going to work for you, then you need to do all you can to take care of it and feed it well. Thank you so much for the kind words, my friend and always taking time to watch and comment on my videos. Your dedication to my channel is very important to me. So thank you! My favorite part of your videos is riding the cart with you. You can see the mules and how they work as a team and respond to your commands. My second favorite is seeing you interact act with them when putting on their harness, taking them out and putting them up in their stalls. I really enjoy watching. Thinking things through, taking observations into account, adjusting practices to the necessities, all while being considerate with your equine partners is making you successful and preserves your enthusiasm for your work. Financial success is important, but so is satisfaction with what you do.

Hey ole buddy! Good to hear from you. So, that’s why when I release the blocks, I release the front block first. The back one will hold the logs while I get the front one out first. Then I move to the rear and release the back one so I can get out of the way should they start to roll. And I’ve had em roll on me before especially if you’re facing downhill a little. So you have to have some experience around it for sure. Anyway, thanks brother! And thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come please

More damage can be done whenever the roads are wet and the tree's are more heavier whenever they are wet. That makes the team be in danger and work harder.
@zachodom7486
@zachodom7486 12 күн бұрын
Yessir that is true however the mules are a lower impact type deal. So long as we’re ground skidding or using the cart, it don’t tear the ground up much. And the mules are shod with pulling shoes for traction. So isn’t a big deal. The logs actually slide better in the mud lol. That’s one upside to it. Anyway, thanks for taking time to watch and comment on everything Mr Ray. I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please

What is gum good for? I've never seen that sawn into lumber. That is the mark of a good mule man or horseman: always seeking to make it easier on the animal you are working.
@zachodom7486
@zachodom7486 Ай бұрын
Thank you ma’am for the kind words! I do try my best by my animals. So, on the gum logs… They are usually sold into cross ties. And whatever is left is sewn into pallet material. It does not make good lumber at all. It is too stringy and will bow too much pallet. Thank you for the question! And thank you for always taking time to comment. I appreciate your time! Take care of my friend and do come again, please

Interesting video now I have one question, when you hauled those two logs together and you used two chains why not do a figure 8 or a slip hook and a half hitch and just used one chain?
@zachodom7486
@zachodom7486 Ай бұрын
Hey buddy! OK, most of the time when hitching to two logs like that… They are far enough away from each other that they need to be drug together in order to use a figure or half each. It is a little more difficult doing it with the figure 8 when the logs are separated. And it is also a little harder to get it out at the landing. So that’s why I just usually use to change. It is easier to adjust it to get it equal. Sometimes I don’t have a choice but to use a figure. Because I might want to pull three or even four. And when that happens, you have to figure 8. Anyway, I hope this answers your question. And thank you so much for taking time to watch and comment! I really appreciate your time. Thank you for the kind words, my friend and take care!

Question: Would it be easier when dragging from cut site to deck to hook the small end of the log up front close to the mules and the big end dragging behind. That way the big end wouldn't be getting hooked on roots and stumps and whatnot?
@zachodom7486
@zachodom7486 3 күн бұрын
Well, not really. If you leave the big end towards the back with the log cart… It will tend to dig in a lot harder due to focused ground pressure in the back. And you want to put as much weight as you can on the cart. And depending on how you hitch will determine how much lift you get on the front end. I mean, you could do it either way and it would work… I have tried it both ways and this has just been my experience. Now, if youare ground skidding, you want to pull from the small end so it will not plow as hard. But ground skidding is a lot different than using a log cart. Thank you for the question! I hope I have answered it to where you can understand. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care, my friend and do come again, please.

It’s just sorta the way it worked out right in that immediate area there. But no sir we’re just thinning this place. Not clear cutting.
