The maintenance post with AOE is meant for late game and it will rip through your money at this stage. When you have catastrophic problems (mass starvation etc) with random breakdowns, you'll need to build it and not before.

I've never used the maintenance depots and I've CEO'd every campaign and scenario with the exception of scenario 14 (only got manager, I know, weak). They are a money drain. I tend to stagger maintenance depots every other city or have them in stations supplying the goods outside of the cities. My only other advice would be to run your lines city to city. and bring your goods in through connections on the main tracks. In the early stages this is fine but as you add trains to you lines to get better frequencies to capture more passengers and goods, you will end up with log jams at the stations creating traffic

Would you say this is the right game for someone who loves Anno 1800? Like a week ago I played my very first Anno game (Anno 1800) because I always thought it is boring but oh boy was I wrong! After several hours I search for something similar but different so I found Railway Empire and thought if this is maybe the right thing.

I'm not sold on buying this one as I've yet to complete RE1... I'm not seeing sufficient updates/new stuff to lead into purchasing it. However, if I did not have RE1, it's a game that would definitely be considered 🙂

@@TheOnlyL0nzY the first one was little bit more tricky due to having to place manual signals, separate warehouses (couldnt add them into stations) and you had to spam millions of trains lol....i think i prefer 2

@TheOnlyL0nzY Transport Fever 2 seems simpler than this at first glance only to get complicated towards or just past midgame. Without mods, once you get a profit, you will only snowball from there unless you make huge mistakes, so it can seem boring. The challenge comes when you are looking to upgrade parts of your transport network to either make them look nice or make them more efficient... or both. When you have trams, trucks, buses, trains, planes, aircraft, and boats to sort, it will become a big thing to manage. I like to grow cities almost as much as I like to build my transport lines. Some like to role-play (with mods it can be quite fun and challenging).

Early on, there is not much choice and enough passengers to have dedicated

You're doing your lines wrong you need to select each stop going down the line and then back up all the way to the stop right before the first stop otherwise on the way back up the line it skips everything
