Ray Henning said that is exactly what SRV said when he picked up his Strat. "This one feels right".

You bring up some really good points. The one thing I find interesting is that the average person thinks that a guitar in the $1-$1.9K range is an expensive guitar. It’s not 1987 anymore. $1000+ guitar is not expensive. It’s just a nicer guitar than a “starter model.” To me anything above $5-6K is starting to get into the expensive range. If you’re buying a hand built archtop, or if you’re a classical musician, you might be paying well in access of $150K for your instrument. $1000+ is not expensive! People’s perception of worth/value is sooooo skewed.

I think a balanced approach to negative comments is fine; one where youre fair, logical, or even where you state you have an illogical emotional bias that triggers you so hard that it lives rent free in your head. Dont confuse this with losing your shit and duking it out with flames and do note that youre likely on extremely thin ice when you roll over experts or well established concepts, so it is important to say a thing *based on or because of* a thing for your exchange of thought to be meaningful. I dont want to go down the rabbit hole on metaphysics, but reality basically is what *most* of us perceive it as and agree upon right up to the point where we suddenly realize that a fringe idea turns out to be the truth of the matter. So, opine even in the negative and dont be afraid to be wrong as long as you have a thoughtful foundation, is my suggestion. Just endeavor to do it gracefully, try not to be an asshole, and definitely have the ability to take a person as they are even when they are burdened with countervailing thoughts that you cannot reconcile. You may have stayed at a Holiday Inn last night and decided to let Dylan have it over pickup winding or the outrage of an unserious cat guitar, but lets at least just try to be cool about it in this particularly excellent community.👌 Post scriptum: Sometimes we simply shit the bed and say the wrong thing or say it the wrong way. I am not greenlighting people to be awful or passionately ignorant, but we all get it wrong once in a while. I would encourage everyone to consider that, reflect on how you crashed the plane into the ground; then circle back to take ownership of being wrong to help you get it right the next time ;)

The nicest Guitar I ever bought was an Epiphone Sheraton in a Gibson case. It was so nice I had to return it because it blu away the rest of my guitars. I have since spent more and been less uncomfortable. I cannot justify the cost of a Gibson - or anything above about $750. The last two I bought were about 1/2 that and are among my current favorites. I still have one paid $475 for (with case) in1978. Even after adjusting for inflation a Squire Jaguar at about $450 (without case) makes me cringe. I used to chuckle at old timers with sticker shock but, I guess, now I'm one.

Elasticity of price is a real thing. There is a price where people stop buying so Fender can't charge just whatever they want to

Love your show and a huge fan _ i know you know this as you see me in your live streams - I dont often disagree, in fact rarely ever - but - I have to disagree on the Nick Johnston Schecter versus Fender viewpoint. I currently own a Fender Limited Edition Player Series Telecaster and a Schecter PT Nick Johnston tele style guitar. I have also tried to own 2 different Fender Player Plus Series Teles in the past year. In my opinion and from experience (since I own both), you are correct in that you could debate "better" based on how the Schecters are optioned versus the Fender MIMs - however - in my opinion and based on my own experience owning the 3 different guitars, the Schecter Nick Johnston tele is better from top to bottom. The true comparison is between the Schecter NJ and the Player Plus since they are comparatively priced - I bought two different Fender PP series and had to return them both. They had nut issues, fret issues, no one could get one of them intonated properly no matter what we all tried based on how the bridge mounts to the body (saddle screw dropped into the mounting screw recess at the intonation point), cracks in the neck pocket, etc - just a plethora of issues. I finally ended up with a Player Series that was better and had no issues for about $300 less. My Schecter NJ was perfect right out of the box. The fit/finish is comparable to my Made in Japan Fender strat. The pickup combination covers all the ground I need and sounds exceptional. The neck profile and fret work is amazing. My situation could be an anomaly, but I recommend to anyone looking for a tele style guitar to play a Schecter before committing to buying a Fender. For me, its just better all the way around for the same money. Thanks for the vid Dylan - much respect!

Im personally getting very disillusioned by the guitar industry. Among my 24 guitars are some 2 to 3000$ guitars, theyre beautiful but... my daily player is now a Harley Benton TE-20 HH, I paid 180$ Canadian for and its incredible !

I just read up on it…. It wasn’t a scam, you could actually buy them, it was just a trademark case against the shape. I would send a C&D … good on them.
