It takes a special kind of musician to be a lead singer/drummer like Don Henley. The guitarists are Don Felder with the dual-neck guitar, Joe Walsh with the red bandana, Glenn Frey on the acoustic guitar, and Randy Meisner on bass. Each one can be lead singers on any given day of the week which makes the Eagles a special kind of band, and one of the greatest.

Take It To The Limit live for the same time period (1977) is definitely your best bet. The band was incredible it literally had 4 guys who could and did sing lead and do it very well. Don Henley (this song), Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner and Joe Walsh. Randy Meisner sings lead on Take it to the Limit.

The best version of this song is the extended intro from the History of the Eagles tour. There is a video from their performance in Sydney Australia. Video was amazing, seeing it live later that tour, no words. I've seen them several times over years luckily with all of the original members still alive (if not on stage There is a song they used to do as a warm up exercise. It wound up being included albums & set lists. 7 Bridges Road. I can't reccomend it enough

The first of many times I’ve seen the Eagles was in Frankfurt in 1977. I was stationed there at Rhein Main AFB. Joe Walsh the guy with the bandanna had some great hits before the Eagles and Don Henley the drummer had many hits after the Eagles:

This is the music I grew up on. The Eagles were a great 70's band with so many hit songs. They were known for their great harmonies. "Take It Easy", "Lyin' Eyes", "Witchy Woman", "Desperado", "Already Gone", "Best of My Love", "One Of These Nights", "Take It To The Limit", "New Kid In Town" etc. Before they went solo they were the back up band for Linda Ronstadt.

Eagles are one of my top three favorite bands. When my sister and I were very young, around 3 and 5, (around 1980) my dad had an 8 track of their greatest hits album. Maybe it's a language problem, but other reactors, whose first language isn't English have talked about how beautiful this song is. While it is perfectly delivered, the song is about a man in fear for his life and soul. You can never leave because you can't leave an experience behind. You take it with you. Gothic, or disturbing, or haunting. It's not a happy song. Pull up the lyrics and listen. There's a whole, important aspect of this masterpiece.

When I was a kid, mom and dad never allowed us to hear any music other than country, Elvis, and the Lawrence Welk Show. I visited my 6 year old neighbor in 1977 one day not long after Christmas to find his sister, Lisa, kneeling on the living floor inside their front door, planted in front of the HI FI stereo. The sounds I heard coming from the speakers was incredible. I remember saying to Lisa, "Is that ear magic?" This started my foray into rock. This song is metaphorically about someone going from adolescence to adulthood and not being able to go back to being a kid again, once you accept all these responsibilities. Don Henley is the lead singer for about 45-50% of the Eagles songs. EVERY MEMEBER is a lead singer, just like the Beatles.

I really don’t have a fav member because they all did the writing, singing, and play the instruments. I love Randy for being actual an introvert but he is the high note for the harmonies. Also, he sings lead on Take it to the limit. I don’t think Randy was treated the way he should’ve been. RIP Randy. The guitar work by Felder and Walsh is legendary.

The Eagles have a lot of great songs, but the first song I think of when I think Eagles is "Hotel California". Similarly, when I hear the name Prince, I think "Purple Rain". I'm from Minnesota. Let's get some Prince. His version of "Motherless Child" is pretty good, as is his performance of "Purple Rain" from his 1985 Syracuse concert.

Eagles are amazing! Legends! Before they were a band, many of them played as studio musicians and, most famously, toured with Linda Ronstadt in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Don Henley - Drums and Lead Vocalist (for this track and a majority of the others) Glenn Frey - (1948-2016) 12 string Acoustic Guitar and Backing Vocals (also a lead vocalist on other tracks by the band) Don and Glenn were the musical motor of the band. They also both had very successful solo careers. Glenn even dabbled in acting in shows like Miami Vice and movies like Jerry Maguire. Some great songs from their solo careers are: Don: The Boys Of Summer, Dirty Laundry, In A New York Minute, The End of the Innocence, All She Wants To Do Is Dance Glenn: The Heat Is On (theme to Beverly Hills Cop), Smuggler's Blues & You Belong To the City (both from Miami Vice) Co-Lead guitarists: Joe Walsh - Single-necked guitar with the bandana on his head Don Felder - Double necked guitar (12 string & 6 string combo) Don Felder came up with the music for the song and wanted to sing it. However, he didn't have the voice. While all of the guys have amazing voices that blend well for the harmonies, Don and Joe don't really have lead vocal chops. They are exceptional guitarists! Randy Meisner - Bass guitar Randy has a very high tenor voice, which he uses to great effect on the hit "Take It To The Limit." However, he never felt comfortable being the main singer.

Me thinks the Lady doth love it too much. The only reaction possible with the Eagles. I had the pleasure of having Joe Walsh (the guitarist wearing the bandana) sit in with my band for about 5 songs one night. He was taking a break from a recording session in a studio just down the street. This was in his solo years between the James Gang and the Eagles. Great moment for a young musician (I was a HS student and the youngest in the band) at the start of his career. The Eagles was full of musicians at the peak of their creative years and they and all their solo works are a great big rabbit hole to jump into.

5 lead singers, so the harmonies are very rich (check out "Seven Bridges Road" live audio, especially a 5-track encoded one - e.g. DD5.1. 5 voices blending in your room.). This song is about the trap of California superficial culture of fame and fortune - "you can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave". Don Henley songs: "One Of These Nights" (mid-tempo), "Life In The Fast Lane" (rocker), "Best Of My Love"(ballad). Many more such as: "Last Resort", "Desperado", "Wasted Time". Glenn Frey songs: "Take It Easy", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid In Town", "Tequila Sunrise". Randy Meisner: "Take It To The Limit", "Try And Love Again". Timothy B. Schmit: "I Can't Tell You Why", "Love Will Keep Us Alive". Joe Walsh: "In The City" Don Felder: "Hotel California"(writer), "Victim Of Love"(writer, unreleased lead singer version).
