First time I played this game, I went into this scene already knowing there was going to be some sort of twist. The entire time I hadn't run into a single living friendly NPC so I figured that wasn't about to change. I also had half the ship still to explore so I knew they were going to pull something with Polito so I'd have to keep going for some reason. Even with those expectations in mind, SHODAN's appearance still blew me away. How's that for the power of a well constructed, well-written reveal?

This scene perfectly raises the stakes as you now have two enemies you will have to deal with by the end of the game.

The rights to System Shock were actually bought by Night Dive Studios in 2015 so you don't need to do that anymore. OtherSide Entertainment are even working on System Shock 3. They also made Underworld Ascendant, which wasn't all that great so I'm not as excited for it as I want to be.

SHODAN is originally an AI created for citadel station. she was originally guided by a series of logic and moral programs that kept her from going rogue but those where removed by the hacker which you play as in system shock 1.
