If you want to find stuff metal detecting in the iron of a cellar hole check out this video. I took my Fisher F19 metal detector to a 1700s 1800s cellar hole we have been digging and detecting at for years. In truth its a mess and the last couple trips we didn't find much, but this time was different. I started out using the stock 11 inch coil on my detector and then switched out to the small 5 inch coil and instantly started hearing non ferrous signals in the ground. Well I ended up finding stuff I did not find before like relics and two large cent coins ! I could believe it but having that small coil narrows what you hear in the ground for metal targets as well it lets you swing in tight spots. I am so impressed and loving this small 5 inch coil for the Fisher F19.
