Nhl highlights today 2023 - That edmonton oilers vs vancouver canucks game was absolutely NUTS. I honestly didn't think it would go that way, but that was one of the most entertaining 6-2 games I've ever seen. Next year is Leon's last on his current contract and McDouble's is up after the 25-26 season. It would be hard to see Leon leaving and Connor staying because he knows that team is trash at that point. Maybe Leon signs a 1 year deal to stay until Connor's is up and they go to UFA together.

As a canucks fan i would say they have had a decent #1 in Maclean and then an enigma with Luongo (best and worst in the same player and sometimes even the same game). But to say they have a history of good goaltending is certainly no accurate. My god it has been a goalie graveyard.

I thought Markstrom was decent all things considered. It’s nice we have a team effort right now and don’t have to rely on a goalie to win all our games. Another lifelong Oil fan since the 80s here. With the exception of the cup run in ‘06, they have had the worst managed roster imaginable. Defense should not be the #1 issue for two decades and remain unfixed. That’s what got the McDavid pick, and it’s still such a big problem that McDavid & Drai barely help overall.

The Oilers came out really strong in the first. (so much so I was nervous the Canucks were going to lose bad) They outshot the Nucks by quite a lot, which obviously woke the beast and then it was just over after that. I don’t follow EDM too closely, but it’s always seemed like they’re continually adding offense instead of defense and goaltending. The easiest way to figure this out is to ask "are the players, properly, playing the system?" If the answer is 'yes', then the solution is to change the system, probably requiring a coaching change. If the answer is 'no', then why? Do they not understand it? Do they know what there part is, in it? Or, are they simply not playing it? The issues seem too wide spread to simply be a few players lost in the system. Seems like the coach has lost the locker room.
