great video and i'm looking for a nice small sump as well. i never use socks either. that refugium section is way too small. a good refugium needs to be 1/8 the size of your tank to work properly. i'll use that area for something else.

Wow, I think you should just leave it empty and frame it. I'm glad I saw this video before anything. When I first started, my macro algae never lasted long, it was not until I began to dose iron and fertilizers. Also what ever you do, do not dose magnesium, calcium, potassium, alkalinity salts. Just add minor elements. Also include a little bit of iodide to help your shrimp molt. Only dose once or twice a month max. You won't really be needing calcium Reactors or anything fancy really. Kent has a good selection of minor elements in a single bottle. Maybe get a buffer and always maintain ph at 8.3-8.4. Ph may drop with ro water when topping off, and over time. If this sounds confusing let me know and l rephrase it.

HCBCHEMISTRYoCOM It is beautiful! My macro algae I am using is growing like crazy! I would like to discuss more with you about the dosing you recommend I was planning on setting up a 2 part dosing system in the future. Glad you commented. Sounds like it is best with your salt to not dose 2 part but focus on the trace elements

@@WeldonTanks I wish they had all this tech. When I started. When I stopped having a personal tank, LEDs just came out. Yes, just focus on minor elements. They are in bottles because they are to small to be measured in scales. So we dilute them in liquid bottles in very small concentrations. Only dose major elements when you stop doing water changes for a few months. Your corals will let you know forsure.

HCBCHEMISTRYoCOM ya I have a kessil light over my fuge and it grows well. Thanks for the info on the elements. If that is what is best for your salt mix I will go that route. I will look into the recommendation you made as well. Do you know if the Triton Elements would work?
@HCBCHEMISTRY5 жыл бұрын
@@WeldonTanks that light is great for everything lol. I would just give that a try first before you invest money on something you may not need. No need to change the chemistry. I'm not sure what is in that product, nor have I heard of it lol. But what I can tell you is to find bottles that have these elements, I dont have my notes but what I remember is, boron, bromide, strontium, should be the most dominant. As a reference, dose 1 gram of strontium salt for about 50 gallons of water once a month.

That is beautiful! Also, I'm a bit distracted by your subscriber total. We need to form a party planning committee.

I officially put you in charge of the party then! lol I want to do a fun live stream for it, we are closing in my one year anniversary as well on KZbin and hope those two things line up closely.

Just got mine from Reef2land on a blemish deal and I couldn’t find the blemish and I seriously tried to find it for at least an hour. Well made such a shame I have to stuff in under my tank 😂

you have vid of it in action?
@WeldonTanks5 жыл бұрын
mogtrader8 Unfortunately I do not. I actually no longer own that set up. The sump is nice but there were some things of the design that frustrated me after using it
@dannycastaneda19743 жыл бұрын
@@WeldonTanks what! awe man. What frustrated you about the tank? I just bought a Trigger sapphire 26 and was searching for how others set up theirs. What did you settle on?
@WeldonTanks3 жыл бұрын
If you want to talk the sump specifically I did it to myself by having my cabinet be to small. It made it extremely difficult in changing out the filter sock. Plumbing was kind of difficult in particular if you wanted two overflows instead of the one. And the “skimmer” chamber was also small but again kind of did it to myself. Overall I would say it is a well designed sump I just did not use the design to the best of it. If I do another large salt tank I would actually go with a trigger sump again.
@dannycastaneda19743 жыл бұрын
@@WeldonTanks I get it. I decided on the 26 so I would have room in the cabinet for ATO container and other equipment but I wanted to go larger on the sump for a larger refugium section .

nice dude u could havegone with only refusium you dont need the scimmer ad al bulk reefsuply have proven it

yohjo kromwood you are correct, I have watched all their series. I really thought going just refugium but having never played with a slimmer before I wanted the experience not only for myself but to document on the channel
