As sad as it is to admit it, I've just stopped looking forward to new games these days. I've been let down so many times in recent years that it's killed any hope I have for good games to come out. I'm not even excited for GTA VI, and I've been waiting for that game for 10+ years Cities skylines 2 and Kerbal space program 2 were the only games I was looking forward to, and they are both a horrible mess that's not worth your money or time.

There is a big hype around it, so you might know, but I would suggest Manor Lords for you and those who like management games. It's indie and looks and feels promising based on the demo which came out a year or two ago. Reacting to your comment, sadly I completely agree. I work on KZbin channel which makes reviews and feel like I just copy my previous review every time "There are some bugs, which can ruin your time..." etc... Like I should just stop saying it cause at this point every game comes out buggy.... Even Baldur's Gate 3 which was overall an outstanding game had sooo many bugs...

the 50 dollar price tag is totally unacceptable. like you said 10 or 20 bucks ok fine but at 50 it's just greedy and wrong and it sets a terrible precedent that game companies can sell a broken game for full price and just shrug and say "lol early access". there needs to be refunds if the roadmap isn't going to be completed in a year or two.

Huge difference is that NMS never tried to justify the lack of content. They just went completely silent and fixed the game. Every time we here from KSP2/Nate it feels like the he is trying to justify the state of the game, which in my opinion is completely unjustifiable. Or, gaslighting us, trying to tell us the game is great. Multi-billion dollar companies should not release EA games, especially in this state. I get that Intercept Games/Private Division/Take-Two aren't really the same, but at the same time, yea they are. Releasing an unfinished game is on thing. KSP2 minus roadmap would have been annoying, but fine. Releasing a completely broken WIP is totally different. Yea I'm salty too.

To be frank, I'm pretty sure the decrease in mid-update patches is specifically in order to speed up feature update frequency, something people have been screaming at them about, like here. They got all the quick and easy fixes out of the way so going for the next ones first would mean every update takes as long as For Science. If they're holding off for this long, I think it must mean that they're focusing their bug fixing on the dev build, which would mean the colony update shouldn't send the stability of the game back into the dumpster. Now that we've had a look at their development since the game released, how early access is going to go is pretty much factually known, so no more surprises. The road map is going to at minimum take 5 years to complete, with stability and performance increases steadily keeping pace with complexity, just barely balancing.

I have 190 hours in the game. So far after the latest update, it has been stable so far. I do run into the odd bug occasionally, but nothing a quickload cant fix, most of my issues come from long term missions that require a lot of saving and loading (sometimes antennas and solar panels would not work as expected) but a restart usually fixed the issue. There is an update coming in the next few weeks, so maybe wait for that if you still have reservations. I would at least recommend it if its on sale if you dont want to pay full price.

At least to me, the stuff feels sturdier than a Nokia 3310! When a project we like goes belly up, sooner or later "spiritual successors" are bound to come, maybe that's what it takes for modders to come up with better solutions for KSP 1 than even KSP 2 would arguably provide us, who knows when, if at all. And even if they don't, the ideas of colonies and everything else is already in everyone's minds, we'll still get to play with some even more polished version of all of that... eventually... perhaps even earlier than the current KSP 2 team would be able to provide! Holy crap I'm being positive on this one! Haha!

@Khether0001 not just laid off, but they shut down the entire studio making the game. Best we can hope is they keep a handful of people to finish the game and move them to a different studio. But ya, with mods Ksp1 has all new planets, ground base parts and all new systems you can add. Been thinking of checking some out once Im done with the main game. 500 hours and I still haven't explored even a fraction. Most I landed on ever was Minmus the Mun and Duna, think Ike one time. The game is packed with things to do and I don't think Take Two realized that, or just didn't care. Problem is they started the game from scratch and they thought it would be easier than it actually was. It took 10 years for KSP 1 to be the masterpiece it currently is. You can't just ditch all that code assuming you'll figure out everything again. For example, reentry heat is actually not that trivial. The physics about that are a nightmare, so you have to make your own game friendly formula that looks realistic enough. Pretty sure they are still wondering why their attempts don't work as well as in the original game...

I never bought KSP2 because did not change the 2 aspects that I hated the most from KSP1, which are lack of a procedural part approach for design (which limit creativity, increase load time and memory resources and decrease the overall realism of the design and manufacture process) and the lack of interest from creators to be realistic in the game simulation. Now KSP2 no only does not have that, I would said is worse in any metric to KSP1.

SimpleRockets2 made procedural almost perfect, but everything else was missing. I do not care if something is hard to develop (like anything with realism), but I least I need to have the word from developers that they will pursuit that path, instead saying that wobble rockets are fine and the rest of the arcade aspects too. When a game is released on Early Access, it has this little tag above the Buy button that says, "Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development." So, complaining about an Early Access game being incomplete feels really pointless to me. Yes, it sucks that it's not further along than we'd want it to be, but it's being developed. It's in Early Access, and they don't owe you anything. If they only charged $10 or $20, that's all they get from you forever. You don't get charged again when the game goes to a full release. I personally wouldn't pay full price for Early Access as it is now, but, again, complaining about the state of a game and its price when it's in Early Access feels pointless. As for the No Man's Sky equivalence, you said it didn't even take a few months for the game to get to the state its in now, but within the first 2 years, they'd only put out 3 updates. It's also important to note that No Man's Sky was a HUGE deal being what it was when it was released, because they promised a shitload of stuff and then, as you said, it still isn't really what was promised 8 years later. A much better game maybe, but not what was promised. And that was a full release. You get no promises with Early Access. So stop being salty about something as open and honest as Early Access is and have some fun playing KSP 1, since that's clearly what you want to do.

I generally agree that "Early Access" is a gamble in the same way that, for example, supporting a Kickstarter project might be. That said, I think the situation is a bit different there. The team/company behind KSP / KSP2 isn't some small two-man indie operation, they're an actual company with a bunch of actual employees and money, and them using the Early Access program feels a bit disingenuous. Additionally, while Steam does have the "Early Access Disclaimer", if you look at the marketing and publicity material that has been generated about KSP2, they sure are trying to sell it quite hard. Their videos are all like "available now!" and celebrating a 1 year anniversary isn't really something you should do if you haven't actually released a full game. They were, also very deliberately, feeding the hype train up to the release, which again, something they shouldn't have done for EA. Personally, I don't think that EA games should do any advertising at all--the purpose of EA is to give die-hard community fans a closer connection to the developers and provide community feedback, something that can be done with a very small fanbase, not to drum up sales for an incomplete product.

@@SpunieBardYeah, also the bizarre decision to use unity with the same stock physics engine that ksp 1 used. I just can't imagine a seasoned gamedev making that decision for a new physics sandbox game in the current year. And then there was that weird development hell period. Really I just think that the devs got handed a project that they weren't nearly experienced enough to handle and lost themselves in the excitement of getting to work on a beloved IP. It's really sad all-around. I do think that there is a significant enough vacuum in the market for someone else to pick up the torch and try under a new IP given a few years.

I think so too, I am really hoping it gets handed off to someone though and doesn't once again begin from scratch.

KSP2 is insanely disappointing. Dont know why the Dev team decided to reinvent the wheel and then tried to make said wheel a square. I bought into Early Access in KSP back when 0.1 was released. And after two or three major updates, it had more than what KSP2 offers currently. KSP2 should just he shut down, and they should refocus on content expanding DLC on the first. But they're greedy and pompous.

Game development is hard, They're also a very small team that is making a niche game for a small community. Yes, the price was high, yes they are still working on it.

for real. They're not posting as much because the community wont stop harassing them every update and ignoring all of the progress thats being made on the game. you cant really blame them for keeping updates to a minimum.

Hitting the atmosphere at orbital velocity has a lot of friction, making your capsule get quite spicy

@@hacknwack4065 i was meaning how he said the games missing reentry heat. also its not friction its air compression. As you hit the atmosphere coming from orbital velocity all the air molecules get ionized and build up on the vessel which eventually turns into plasma
