Inalla pilot here. Played a few games at my LGS the other day, honestly didn’t really feel like I was set back too much. Not being able to recur dockside and do crazy lines was a bummer, and Gambling for a Sol Ring instead of a Crypt was a minor letdown, but compared to other decks we didn’t really lose a whole lot. I wasn’t on dockside loops to begin with, so these bans gave me even more breathing room to put in better card draw engines and interaction than I had before.

Immediate takeaways off the top of my head: - I think Rocco is still fine, I think it is definitely a viable food chain deck, the lack of the early fast mana sucks but excited to see how pilots adapt - Sultai is probably back on the menu? Thras Francisco becomes less of a meme and a potential turbo naus strategy while Tevesh although slower is still an option - Pour one out for all my Dargo boys - Blues Clues is going to have to pivot hard but still probably has legs - I’ve been working on a thrasios vial smasher list with my buddies for months now that we were just about to debut at our LGS next 2k, but the RC brought it to the farm upstate and we will never see it again. Alas, here’s to the greatest deck that never was.

@@FirewynnTV As a dedicated Yuriko player that wins his locals every week against Kinnans and Najeelas, I would not be caught dead with an Excrutiator in my deck. Realistically, you don’t even need Thassa’s Oracle to win games if you’re heavy enough into removal and countermagic, why put a 6 Mana brick into the deck that requires insane amounts of setup? As it stands, you’re already playing so many “bad cards” that Yuriko turns into good ones, but the deck is constantly battling with itself to slot in just enough ninjas that you can get 2-3 triggers a turn, but also have enough countermagic and removal to stop win attempts, AND enough high CMC spells that you aren’t just tickling the table with Yuriko triggers. All in all, it’s a very delicate balance, so every card that isn’t a 1 Mana evasive creature, a Ninja, Interaction, or a Land needs to be absolutely busted.

Krark Thrasios did lose a lot, the deck was amazing with Nadu due to being able to target something with a free spell and then possibly get it back with a Krark trigger. Most variants were also on displacer kitten so losing dockside is quite painful. The good thing about the deck was that you are running a massive density of creature tutors, and often the target of those tutors were Dockside or Nadu. So that strategy is a lot weaker now.

inalla pilot here. have to wait for the meta to settle but inalla's biggest issues in the old meta were 1. rog si was just more efficient (it hurts to say out loud) and 2. fast rhystic was an entire defensible game plan and we just can't win games where there's 3 fish down before our second turn. if the meta overall slows down, and generally people are willing to pay for rhystic more, then inalla gains alot because we should see less turbo rhystic keeps overall. the other thing inalla gains is the deck is insanely difficult but the new bans brought alot of the big guns out of their caves to brew again, and it's entirely possible we're gonna see a new, sleeker list. it's completely up in the air for now and we wont know where we're at for at least another month.

Inalla main here, I moved to blue farm but probably heading back to inalla (was my first love). Although I am messing around with some esper lists atm. Inalla really wants to be fast, and it got a little? Slower but barely, at least in compared to other decks. It probably cuts ad naus now and goes to more wizard centric lines, and if the format is slower it lets us combo without worrying about turn one problems as much now. Most decks that drop turn 1 stacks (including rhystic) were a problem then we had to answer. Without the threat of that we can just mull like crazy and try for turn 1-2 wins all the time now. Just my two cents.

Could you provide any brief thoughts on recently performing colorless decks? (specifically Zhulodok and Liberator) Both decks used the rocks, but they also fed Docksides like crazy. Both can have staxy elements & likely can take advantage of games that have an extra turn or two, I think? Liberator is far more combo focused so maybe it's just hurt more than a deck like RogSi (especially when your enabling commander is 3cmc), but that Zhulodok deck might be real happy about these bans.

As an Ob Nixilis player, I'm not sure how I will change the deck. My list was very close to wounded Satellites, and the deck changes significantly. Not only do you lose the banned cards, but cloudstone curio & cthonian are probably also getting cut now. Similarly magda, cursed mirror and bolas citadel become a pipe dream. Less turn one ob nixilis makes mox amber worse, and your swats & rollicks worse too. Personally, I think I might pivot to something more mid-range. Some light stax to slow the game down like chains, cursed totem or even grafdiggers cage (as breach lines got worse for this deck too, a big way it dumped lots of cards into the bin was dockside & grinding Station.) We can also put in some more value pieces that were cut to maximise the decks speed, like the One Ring. The deck has a lot of 1 or 2 card combos with the commander making generic rakdos combos not *quite* as necessary. Obviously they're still very strong, but many lists that had cut all will be one & agathas soul cauldron in exchange for divining top loops & turbo breach could pick them back up

Hello, Inalla diehard here, Top 16 at the TopDeck Open. I can say that Inalla has lost speed with Mana Crypt being gone, but losing Dockside has removed 2 full combos from my list. Chthonian Nightmare is entirely dead now and Ruthless Technomancer loses efficiency outside of the traditional combo. Overall the deck has lost some speed and flexibility, we have way less turn 1/2 win attempts, but we weren’t hit as hard as some other decks were. I am currently testing Hoarding Broodlord lines to get around feeding Mystic/Rhystic and as a build your own Dockside with Technomancer.

on etali, i wonder if the turbo kinda taking a hit in general punishes etali. mostly because etali kinda relies on its opponents playing explosive cards for its triggers to be good. the fewer nauses, peers, and necros, and the more midrange and stax in the meta (which is where i think these bans are going, with mana denial coming back and the formst slowing down), the less likely i think it is for etali to be able to win just off of casting etali. etali will have to focus a lot more i think on building its own infinite combos than on flipping some game winning payoff off the opposing turbo decks

Very good point :) which makes me sad haha

As a Rocco player I'm really sad now, there is ppl trying it out and looking for ways to adapt but I'm pretty low on in. As someone that like creature strategys I'm also sad the Bowmasters still around but gonna giva a shot at Blood Pod

Convert your Rocco into midrange/stax. Its like bloodpod sans black

Instead of dockside, cant sisay tutor for OG Samut, and a WUBRG tapper?
@jaketrickster4 ай бұрын
21:19 agreed. Obnix basically just lost late game consistancy without dockside, so all us Ob pilots need is to really solidify our early game plan to try and turbo the win

My Dargo/Tymna deck was my whole Identity in cEDH. With the bans I’m just lost.

Not sure if you're in the discord, they're still cooking. Deck will lose some speed, but there's still a deck there.

I wrote the primer for Dargo Tymna, I will tell you that we are cooking and trying to find a way to fit in the new meta

What about Vadrik, Astral Archmage? I use this as mine, I only used the Jeweled Lotus before, still have turn 1 wins available without it, albeit, less likely now.

you know, a weird winner of the format i think will be smothering tithe now that dockside is gone same with the creature that does sort of the same thing but i’m forgetting its name which atraxa absolutely adores and now dockside can’t force you to get rid of those now which is huge punishing how card draw focused the format is

Been looking a Mox Amber-friendly lists alot lately and came across Vohar again. What's your take on the viability of the deck in the current meta? Seems like it could be good.

It was just outside the top 50 but how are we feeling about Jenson//Lurrus? I’m new to cEDH and had that as a consideration

What do you think of ukkima foodchain, Malcolm rograkh (to regain the malcolm speed), and jeska ishai?

I want to know, do stax decks play more artifact hate or less, now that dockside is gone? Is Dauntless Dismantler even a card, or does the fact it does things against the hullbreaker loops still matter?

I’m really curious if a ban like this just “shakes up the format” versus just completely changes what cEDH is

I just lost to a Rakdos the muscle deck tonight after a like 12 turn game against yuriko and kinnan. Was playing Rhionya and boy that deck got hurt with no dockside, crypt or lotus to get her out quickly. I can confirm the magus of the moon and blood moon i cast both games was amazing at stopping everyone for a while.

Been on Yuriko for almost a year. THE TIME OF THE NINJA IS NOW!

I’ve thought a lot on this now. I don’t think it could make sense to say these two things; 1) the bannings were relatively worse for big 5 and 7 mana commanders 2) the bannings are relatively worse for 3 mana commanders Unless you are prepared to say “only 0, 1, and 2 mana commanders are good now. And I don’t think that’s what anyone is trying to say

I think Emry, Sythis and Belbe have the potential to do very well after the bans

I’m really interested in Temur blood moon decks using the 2 creatures that shut down non basics right now.

As an Inalla pilot I think that she gained more than she lost. Does losing dockside and crypt suck, especially for turn 1/turn 2 spellseeker? yes it does. Does losing dockside suck for aether channer + dockside and technomancer + dockside? Yes. However, those dockside loops were all never game plan 1 and always game plan 5 or 6. What it does allow for in inalla is room to add in better redundancy for retrying win attempts and go more in on buried alive and necropotence + flash enabler lines. So inalla didnt get hit that hard, if anything she won with the elimination of the consistent turn 1/2 rhystic studies from the crypt ban and not having to care about dockside.

Feel like non-blue decks are in a lot of trouble for the most part, only a handful of those decks look decent
@ComedIanMTG4 ай бұрын
I think the non-blue decis we have been used to are in trouble. Tbh I think dockside kept a lot of artifact/enchantment heavy decks down that may see much more play now
@edwardsiu12254 ай бұрын
@@ComedIanMTG really interested to see what new non blue decks emerge. The ones that seem like they could potentially make a return are yisan, gitrog, and prossh. The last two seem like good choices for sad korvold pilots to pivot to.
