The pacing of One Piece is horrible. In some cases it becomes unwatchable. But there are also moments which are easily one of the greatest animation of all time. With "The One Piece" coming next year it will most definitely solve the pacing problem.

0:46 op is not mid, his reason is that it takes a 1000+ eps to make a good story but i disagree on that. because op would have not been allowed to make 1000+ eps if it was mid. in fact it is so unique and many people saw its potential early on and decided to support it until this day. with so many mangas and animes right now, for 25+ years op still managed to not fall at the top and by tht logic, it is not mid and never was. the fact that its still airing till this day means its story is still something that manages to capture new fans on any generation and have made some loyal fans throughout the years that would follow it until its end. so with that, anyone that says its mid are people who haven't watch it, people who wants attention, people who thinks its cool to say op is mid and people who are jealous of one piece achievements because their fav show is the one that's mid.

OP has 1k+ episodes because of dogshit pacing. Having an episode count that's near to the amount of MANGA CHAPTERS is insanity, One Piece chaps are NOT so dense that they need to have a single episode per single chapter. An episode should be multiple chapters.

This is just my personal opinion and i am a one piece fan but i do agree that one pice is overrated . Its good but many of the arcs are mid . A lot of things about op are great and they are so good that no other manga compares to it but it has equally bad things bringing it down . I just think op became hyped and is running on the hype but i am in no way calling it bad either . But if someone said to me op is mid i would agree because they probably don’t care about the elements that make op goated and the bad things bother them much more . Mid and bad are two very different things . After you have read over 100s of mangas and watched even more anime it puts into perspective how many manga/anime are out there which are better than one piece but since they are not hype no one follows them or talks much about them . And one of the biggest turn off about op is the toxic fandom . Constantly comparing it to every other thing that exists and mocking every other fandom and cry like a baby when the tables are turned .

@@songoku-jx3cb i agree too that there are many othr shows better than one piece, but just underrated. there r just some people, even non fans just glazing on onepiece because its popular nowadys but they're not real fans. but i really can't agree when someone says its mid. like you I've watched many animes and read mangas and manhwas but I don't really like the shounen genre that much especially if there's a harem. I'm more on shoujo, josei or seinen and i rarely visit the realm of shounen because most stories are generic and just fighting wc is my least interest in a story. but one piece is one of the only shounens that i enjoy watching and now became my fav. it stood out for me amongst all shounen mangas and animes i tried because its unique and refreshing and its style and story telling is something you can't find among any othr shounens. I don't agree with most of your opinions but i respect it. you also mentioned that it's because of hype, i also don't agree w that. because if its only carried by hype for over 25+ years, there should've been not many new watchers that tried it and ended up liking it if it was just about hype. for me i think it's underrated and overhated a lot of times. i am an anime fan ever since naruto has been airing on tv when i was a kid and i nevr noticed the hype of onepiece only until recently. it has been underrated for over many years and has now recently became overhated because of some toxic fans and because it is popular to hate on a popular show these days.

Op is very different from regular shounens and it has a lot of strong and weak areas which makes it unique . It can be mid for some people if certain things they like are absent in the story . And remember one piece was never famous outside japan until a few years ago . In terms of world popularity naruto and db still outdo op by a good amount . There has been a lot of hype generated around it in the last few years . And rightfully so because the series is moving towards the end . All in all op is a very solid show with some weak areas like every series but the strong points cover up for it and make it one of the best series to watch or read . I just think most people who think op is one of the best shows have not watched a lot of anime/manga because there are so many shows that just surpass one piece atleast imo and i am a big fan of op .

Most mangaka don't want to write a long running story because it's hard to keep it interesting without them running out of ideas and storyline, that's why most of them are rushing to finish their story if they have nothing more to offer, if the ending are not build up from the start it will sure lead to the less-impactful and bad ending.

I really really recommend Sonny Boy for you Nick. Its a bit complex but the characters, the art, the stories and the animation is very good and clean. The theme songs are very good as well, some of them bring you the busy but chill vibe somehow. There are 33 arcs, each having its own world, story, characters, and character development. It's not telling one story, it's been telling multiple stories that have finally started to culminate as one. That is the pinnacle of storytelling

I actually have a hot take about One Piece that is not about the length. Oda basically wrote himself into a corner. He made the story so grand and epic that he will have the hardest time making a One Piece ending that lives up to it. From my point of view, there are three endings he could do: 1. They find the One Piece and Luffy becomes King of the Pirates. Since this ending was expected from basically the beginning, this could be a bit boring to the fans. 2. They find where it was hidden, but someone else found it first and ran away with it. This one would be unexpected and might be frustrating, especially if there's a speech about how the real treasure are the friends they made along the way. 3. The One Piece never existed and Rogers said he had a legendary treasure hidden just to stir up trouble by sending all pirates on a wild goose chase. This would also be unexpected, and very frustrating to the fans who sank so much time into the serie.

There's a difference between: One Piece doesn't need a thousand episodes to be good.. Vs It's been a thousand episodes and still f*ckin good!(if not better) *** Making a good story and maintaining how good it is for more than 2 decades is a feat that not everyone else could do. The author's patience and dedication to his craft is almost unmatched. The shorter stories are good because they are short, make it long and it'll be bad because they'll run out of ideas. That's how One Piece stomped on the rest, it doesn't need to be short, it just wants everything to be told and everyone who gets on board love every piece of it.

Toei studio ruins one piece not just with pacing but censoring and dragging out annoying scenes. Thats the disadvantage you get with weekly anime that is forced to adapt 1 chapter per episode. lol 1000 episodes is the studios fault not the mangas fault one piece would have between 300-400 episodes if it was a modern seasonal anime that adapts 3-4 chapters per episodes - the one piece chapters arnt very long and the pacing in the manga is excellent. Also that comparison to AOT- was terrible- you can take any backstory or section of the one piece story and you have more lore from the detailed world building and foreshadowing. No other anime would survive being adapted and dragged out by Toei animation for 1000 episodes other than one piece because the story is built so well with subplots and themes that interconnect in such complex ways.

I agree with the character depth thing and I'm surprised most anime lovers don't understand this. But One Piece wants to make people have fun without making them think too much or get angry. I have to agree with that. While watching Naruto, the decisions made by Naruto and Sasuke and even Sakura sometimes made me hate these characters and sometimes made me love them. In my opinion, main characters should be like this. And it's great that they change over time. On the other hand, the characters in One Piece don't change. You see their past and they become what they are now. They continue like that without anything changing afterwards.

Heres my hot take and it’s not rage bait: I spent $331 on the one piece manga up to chapter 531 and I read it all in 4 months, I didn’t enjoy a second of it. The art wasn’t very good the story had zero stakes I knew these characters couldn’t die so it was hard for me to feel the pressure of reading the conflicts and honestly I think it’s overrated. I enjoyed one arc in OP and it was them picking up sanji I thought finally a character with a cool story and a character that knows suffering, just for them to make him the worst trope in anime the god damn Brock from Pokemon

1) Compared to the animation in the beginning episodes, the later ones are borderline unwatchable 2) It depends on the anime. Action series need good choreography and direction, while romance or slice-of-life can work with regular animation so long as it is still watchable 3) Ninja Kamui doesn't have much in story or characters, it's main selling point is the beautifully choreographed fight scenes. Once it no longer has that, people are no longer interested

My Hot Take: One Piece's Anime PACING is trash. That's not an opinion. That's a fact. If you were to remake the anime today and have each episode adapt 3 chapters and adapt up to Wano, that'd be a total of about 400 Episodes. That's how bad the pacing is and why WIT Studios remaking the anime will hopefully be a godsend.

I don't think the studio is the only reason for this pacing problem. One Piece, especially in Wano, deals with too many characters and I think it kills the pacing. Including Dressrosa. The mangaka is aware of this and separates the team in some arcs

Not to knock on the One Piece anime I watched about 500 almost 600 episodes I watched it because my friends wanted me to get into it but after a while I just dropped it for 2 reasons 1. I wanted to make time for myself and do things other than watch One Piece 2. I just didn't get the appeal like others did... it was way too long, too many diffrent things happening that I felt didn't needed to be in there and I just didn't like the characters I felt nothing towards any of them... it was decent until it became unwatchable for me

For One Piece, there just SO much that subjectively, for me, doesn't vibe with me. The humor in One Piece is just TOO MUCH!!! Most shounen battle anime have this issue to a degree but it gets in the freaking way, it baffles me that One Piece in it's entirety can be considered a masterpiece because of it (I mean that with all sincerity too). There are other things, but beyond just "anime pacing bad" (which I also agree with), this extends to the manga too. The peaks of One Piece are great, but it's troughs can be SO rough. I LOVE One Piece flashbacks and the climaxes of most major arcs, but have SO many problems with EVERYTHING else. But that's just me, anyone else with any other thoughts?

Comparing AoT and One piece is wild asf when attack on titan stop halfway through the story, it's just stop and people call it an ending. Dude, you made a bit of a hasty comparison. Judging by that, half of Oda's arcs are repetitive and his main characters don't experience character development. I'd say he barely takes any risks. He tried to take risks in the Water 7 story but nothing happened after that. That's why my favorite story is Water 7, for example :)
