Have you tried Tainted Grail: Conquest? I'm looking forward to trying Avalon once it's out of early access, but I adore Conquest. It's the same setting, but a different story and genre - class based, deck builder roguelight. Easily my favorite in the genre, and the setting and writing play heavily into why.

Been playing through the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time after I picked it up for like $10 during the Black Friday sales. So far, they've been incredible. Hearing some of the creators highlight older games really makes me miss how good they were back then before gaming took its place in mainstream entertainment.

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous for me. 10 Mythic paths, 200+ classes, 40%ish of the game is different each time you play, by changing stuff around. And I just love the Golarion setting myself.

This year I've probably played civilization 6 the most, but I've been having a great time jumping in and out of tales of vesperia when I get the urge. There is an easy to install mod for Max Payne 3 that removes the majority of the in-game "hangover flashes." Also, watch the cutscenes in the favella unless you got a super fast ssd

Great consept, really enjoyed the video! Leaving aside this year entries, my most played game was Fallout 4... not the story, nor sidequests but modding. After the disapoinment with the exploration of Starfield, I went back to explore the wasteland of F4 but after checking and updating some mods, each graphic and gameplay change added a couple of hours to make it my most played game this year.

So regarding the witcher bit at 22:00, all those mechanics he mentioned are still their. Just that the normal difficulty just doesn't really require you to use them. Where as harder difficulties make it a neccessity to work things out.

Played Mass Effect for the first time, got all the achievements for the Witcher 3, doing the achievements for the Dishonored games, prey and arkham games again. Havent played any games that came out this year, want to play Cyberpunk 2077 though.

I really wish I could play The Witcher 3 again like Salt Factory. It was monumental and I loved it but I've only played through it once. I think its because of the size of it; I start poking around White Orchard, I kill the Griffon, I start to move towards the next part of the story and then I stop. Because I know there's an unfathomable amount coming. Its also why I haven't picked up Baulder's Gate 3, which I fundamentally know I'd play the Hell out of. Though I feel like I'd just not have the time. I instead pick up games like Avatar which I enjoy playing and technically its astounding and movement is clean but its also quite short and snappy for gameplay periods. Things like that and War Thunder just grab me because I can start and stop without thinking I really want to experience the next part; like playing the Blood and Wine DLC in TW3 and going around the toyshop looking for the clues and not wanting to go to work.

after brief tenure with WoW 1.7 or so untill the bloody elves in horde i found DDO, much more interesting experience for me, but game also in long decline. i highly recommand watching JSH video on it and or grabbing it to test yourself. there is a lot of depth (D&D 3.5 or so ruleset is complex) plenty of interesting places and decent people about.

@@YourFavoriteSon1 that is fair, problem with DDO is that it dose not explain itself very well ad he better starting area }Borderlands] is behind paywall :/ I suspect it'd do well with mentor programme or overhaul of interoduction, some elements of play are barely touched upon and especialy user interface (eXperience repport, comPendium, sOcial pannel need at least mention or little bit of explaner because it is not exactly immediatley obvious how they work yet they are crucial to gameplay). As example after DECADE of playing it i was taught new functionality of adcenture compendium yesterday... Regardless if you're having fun in WoW than this is mute point, the fun part is only thing that realy matters, MMOs are more like a facilitator of that than source .)
