Glad to see you finally try some Aussie Snapper, one of the top and most popular fresh eating fish here....and no it's not shark. Sorry your host isn't very knowledgeable on Aussie culture. Glad you tried our Chiko Roll but he should have mentioned the other Aussie classic staple food....the Dim Sim! Battered and Deep Fried with Fish and Chips is on another level! We love our Fish and Chips here (the Aussie way) and although majority of our Fish and Chips shops sell Frozen chips, it's all about how well they're cooked. Also our secret ingredient for making our Fish and Chips next level.....Chicken Salt!! We love our fresh seafood here in the West and have an amazing variety of fresh seafood to choose from. Pity someone didn't take you crabbing in Mandurah and try some our beautiful Blue Swimmer Crabs, another West Aussie favourite. Next time you need to check out our beautiful picturesque North with red dirt and crocodiles (in the Kimberley) and the amazing crystal clear blue water and white sand beaches and wineries ect in the South. Google Lucky Bay in Esperance, you thought our gorgeous Rottnest was amazing, this one will blow your mind!! Our amazing state offers a lot and is one of the best kept secrets!! We do get snow here in WA, on top of Bluff Knoll (large mountain) down towards Albany when it gets really cold here, could be a couple of days or a week of it during winter but we do get snow here. Also there are quite a few world class Ski resorts (at least 6 resorts from memory) on the East coast mountains in Victoria and New South Wales, they even get more snow than the Swisse Alps. Have loved seeing your Perth series, from a West Aussie in the South West. West is best!!

The ski fields in Australia are in the mountains of southern New South Wales and North East Victoria, where it's called the " High Country" in the latter . It's beautiful country with lots of great eateries....but not fish and chips.😉 The movie "The man from Snowy River" was shot in the Victorian High Country area. You can also find the town of MANSFIELD in the Victorian High Country. It's also worth a visit.😊

This has been a truly adventuresome enjoyable experience! Perth I have always wondered about, because you never hear much about it, aside from it being so remote. It appears a thoroughly delightful place! SO clean, so orderly, so welcoming. America it surely isn't! You offer a unvarnished experience, like anyone could have on holiday. When I was a young man I considered emigrating to Australia. That is until I checked into it. The irony truly struck me, that a former penal colony, had such stringent standards for admission. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I'm reminded of a quote by Groucho Marx; "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member!" I have shall we say, a somewhat colorful past? Young and dumb. Thank you for sharing Lee, a fine job as always, so glad I found your channel, and subscribed!

There was no mention of Chicken Salt. It also was developed in Australia. You can choose between salt or Chicken Salt on your fish and chips, everyone chooses Chicken Salt. You can buy it in the supermarket and it's the bomb.

I simply cannot deal with the thought of making chickens cry to harvest tears for the salt.

With the part around 2:47 where you were saying about all of the restaurants and cafes down that one street that is normal for Australian cites. There is a very good verity of them to pick from here in Australia. I live in a small country town in South-east Queensland Called Poonah in Regional Scenic Rim and we have about a dozen pubs, cafes and two of the pubs have drive through bottle shops as well.to pick from just in one small country town. Also if you ever visit Brisbane and your looking for good restaurants and cafes just cross the river and go to the ones at Southbank. the have some good ones there to try out.

There are a lot more ski resorts in N.S.W and Vic than Thredbo. Australia has more snow by area than Switzerland. I live in N.E Victoria and live within 40 mins of Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo and a couple of hours from Mt Buller and smaller ski areas like Baw Baw and Lake Mountain.

Flake is gummy shark it's thick n flaky but can be dry Snapper is usually good (if Australian) moist & flaky No salt n vinegar or did you put some on prior to wrapping? You'd love living in this great place, within this vast diverse country Lee, so much to see & do all in the one country , different seasons North & South & yes you can even snow ski in Victoria & NSW. That is the right way to have Fish & Chips. Load of chips and piece(s) of nice battered fish, wrapped in paper to take away and enjoy elsewhere, no restaurant arrangement. Fish of many types to choose from, be it Flake (shark), snapper, flathead, tuna, salmon, leather jacket, hoki, flounder, so many more, even cod if insistence on greasy, oily fish, or more exotic like orange roughy. But a good piece of flake or snapper goes well. Chips coarse cut from fresh potatoes beats the mass Chips sold frozen. We used to have a local Chip Manufacturer called "Mum's Chips" that each day received a truck load of crates of fresh potatoes, that supplied Fish&Chip shops and many fine restaurants with fresh chips daily. Most sadly more than 20 yrs ago, driven out of business by the huge manufacturers pumping out frozen chips at undercutting prices, for chips that are far inferior to Mum's Chips, certainly not supplied daily fresh product.

I see that Aussie shops still have strips of parking spaces outside, as did NZ when I lived there. In the suburb I worked in, the shops often had signs in the window 'Use Our Lay By' and as a POME-B I assumed it meant that the shop reserved the space for it's own customer's use. Turned out 'Lay By' in NZ meant, Put a deposit on an item and pay monthly! Same language, different folks. 😀
