As usual thank you all so much for your patience while I edited this one up. As you can imagine with the arrival of the baby (who has now been born!) it was slightly more tricky, but with the help of my new editor (huge thank you to everyone who emailed btw!) we just about got it done in time. I want to make it clear that the fun and adventure will not be diminishing just because I’m a dad. Not only do I live for it, but entertaining you guys is my livelihood. I don’t intend to throw that away! On that note, if you could give this video a like to get the ball rolling views wise, I’d be so grateful to you all. Cheers all! 🍻

I remember back in like 2019, in august or something, when I first discovered the straight line missions. The music made the episodes feel magical in a way. Like you were brought into some type of fairytale, a game, or a story straight out of a book. The narrating was perfect, and the obstacles and whole concept of adventure was something you imagined as a kid; "What if I were to just walk completely straight from here? Would I end up in China?". Someone brought the magical idea to life, and to the surface of the internet, and that someone was none other than out beloved Tom. The there was the more urband No Roads Mission, which also fulfilled some childhood ideas of mine! Best KZbinr I think.

Pro-tip: When using a torch at night, if you don't want to be seen put some red translucent acrylic over it, it will filter out all light apart from red light which has the longest wavelength and scatters becoming less visible at distance. Will also be safer travelling through the field of cows at night, as their sight is dichromatic - they only see blue and yellow wavelengths. Whilst they do see excellently at night, all sight requires some light or low light, and whilst they have a wide range of vision they only see well directly in front of them, in low light (or red light) conditions, it wouldn't be far at all. Something to keep in mind for future journeys to keep you from being hurt... Or worse, spotted! (P.S. Fantastic content and my sincerest congratulations on fatherhood!)

Actually, I have poke-proof gloves looking similar. You need to check the EN 338, it is a number combination somewhere on the gloves or the package. It looks like this: 3431X. The second position is cut resistance and the forth position is puncture resistance. So in the example, you have gloves with a high cut resistance (category 4), but with a low puncture resistance (category 1).

I have probably given this advice before: Pick up two solid shoulder high sticks and use them as extra limbs. They need to be that long and no longer (too high and they catch overhead branches). You can chuck them away as soon as you have finished with them. This is by far the safest way of crossing that most treacherous of all terrain. Trust me, I'm a pensioner (that means I made it this far without injuring or killing myself on similar mad expeditions).

I'm a bit late, but Congratulations to you and Verity! Been here since your first straight line mission, which inspired me try something similar with my friends and ever since then my life was never the same. This year we hiked around 280km through our beautiful Slovakian nature, continuing the SNP route for the third year. I honestly don't think I'd do it if I hadn't find you, Tom. Keep being you and much love ❤❤

Baby Tom on the way! Congratulations mate!! If youtube is still going in 20 years time it'll be fantastic to see a Father and son/Father and daughter team

you can do this stuff in your early teens, maybe even better, so they don;t need to wait that long

Hell yeah! Happy to see another mission! I check your channel every once in a while to see if you've started a new straight line mission or something else adventurous, and this time I'm lucky lol.

Congrats to you and Verity on the baby. Top tips: sleep in shifts. If a friend or family member offers help, take it. Buy a baby sling - it's amazing how much distance you can cover whist your baby does baby stuff hugged tightly to your body (15 mile geocache hike in 7 hours is my record - with stops for feeds and nappy changes)

Tom and Verity, congratulations on your baby! As for me, my wife is due with our first daughter on June 15! You will love parenthood and I can tell you will make fantastic parents. Waiting with bated breath for the next episode of this epic mission!
