I know from experience that a healthy lifestyle can do a lot to overcome bad genes. I lost both parents and 2 siblings to cancer and heart disease, all at relatively young ages, but I'm not accepting that as my destiny. I exercise vigorously to stay fit and agile, I fast routinely and eat primarily whole foods (nothing processed), I utilize a few high quality supplements that protect cell function and promote longevity. As a result, I am in excellent health without a single health issue and no red flags on any of my labs. Conversely, all of my remaining siblings has some type of chronic illness. You are not only your genes nor your past lifestyle. It's never too late to improve the quality of whatever time you have left.

He has good genes. He eats a pint of Häagen-Dazs every day. I'd love to do that. Other than the sugar, Häagen-Dazs is one of the best to eat. Dr. Michael Greger has written a number of great books, his best being "How not to Die," which I believe was really supposed to be a tongue in cheek sort of title to get people to pick it up off the shelf, as we all know, none of us are getting out of here alive. At least not with current knowledge. Anyways, in that book, which he dedicated to his grandma, he goes on to tell the world that he became a doctor, because of his grandmother. Not because she died early in life, but because at 65, she was sent home to die in a wheelchair. Terminal heart disease. Crushing chest pains. Multiple bypass surgeries left main stream doctors no choice. But grandma watched the show "60 Minutes." She saw an episode about Nathan Pritikin, an early lifestyle medicine pioneer, who had been helping people reverse terminal heart disease. She became one of his first patients. She was placed on a plant based diet and then started on a graded exercise regimen. They wheeled her in, and she walked out. This is an exeprt from Pritikin's biography, "Pritikin: The man who healed America's heart" : "Frances Greger, arrived in Santa Barbara at one of Pritikin's early sessions in a wheelchair. Mrs. Greger had heart disease, angina, and claudication; her condition was so bad she could no longer walk without great pain in her chest and legs. Within three weeks, though, she was not only out of her wheelchair but was walking ten miles a day." Frances Greger lived another 31 years after that lifestyle change. She should have died at 65. She lived to 96. So yes, genes do play a part. An extremely large part. For the rest of us, there is hope. In the form of a lifestyle change. I'm 63. Run 10k every other day. I have a car, but I choose to run, because of the endurance and well being benefits. No pain. No drugs. Hydrate well. Still eat the occaisonal bag of chips. No dairy. No meat. Vegan 90% of the time, with a little bit of butter thrown into my croissants or popcorn. A bit of cheese in some pastry, but otherwise salads (the tasty kind), pastas, plant based food (stay away from highly processed foods). SO much to choose from! Life is a blessing. I try not to forget that. As well as being grateful every day, for everything that I have. Including what little bit of knowledge I've picked up along the way, to spread it to others.

He has good genes and soent yrs drinking. Smoking ect It’s the Genes not the foodexersuzeect
@waynegrayson45306 ай бұрын
At the end of the day the simple fact is that he has good genes. I know people who are in their 90's still reasonably fit, smoked and drank all their lives, eat fast food and so on while others who eat 'healthy' and exercise regularly are constantly sick and have one condition after another from an early age (look at Jordan Peterson's daughter for example). On that note I'm sick of videos spreading misinformation about red meat aka the proper human diet (again, look at Jordan Peterson's daughter).

Thanks so for watching and sharing your opinion. We appreciate it.

Jordan Petersen's daughter is not the planet. While she has found success in eating beef, water and salt, that diet is an extreme one. No different than eating brocolli the rest of your life. While it may work for some, it does not mean it will work for everyone. Or that it vindicates red meat as a leading source of so many other issues. Everyone's mileage may vary. Mine and yours included. My life, vital signs, blood work, endurance and overall health are much better without meat in it. We do what we can to figure this stuff out, because we haven't been told the "truth." We have to figure it out on our own. Read Dr. Michael Greger's "How not to die." Early. Or his "How not to Diet" or "How to survive the next pandemic." All great eye openers. And don't stop there. That's just the beginning.

I am sure his dietary and exercise regimens and genes are big part of his longevity but having a wife 45 years younger may enter into the picture also. After all, paraphrasing the late Grouch Marx, a man is only as old as the woman he kisses.

LOL! That's a great quote from Groucho! And definitely, sometimes you have to call it as it is. Having a wife 45 years younger is almost certainly part of his recipe for longevity.😉
