Now it's time for Downpour DLC which is basically 5 times more gameplay/mechanics and LOREEEEE. There's no spoilers from me but I wanted to say that dlc slugcats: Artificer Gourmond are not a lot of lore, and even rivulet don't have nearly as much lore as Spearmaster and Saint which is why I recomend playing those two if you want to uncover more lore by yourself.

I was spoiled before I played it which I regret so much but anyways, amazing playthrough and I'm looking forward to downpour. Downpour brings so many new things and I have a suggestion if you want. So basically each new slugcat has 1 MASSIVE AREA like I mean the biggest one is four times the size of the smaller areas in base game. A few characters also have two or three exclusive areas. I think it could be really fun if you did a shorter series on each campaign but exclusively record the new area because all of them are fantastic! One thing I feel like you should know about all the other campaigns in Downpour: all of them take place at a different point in time in the world. Survivor’s campaign takes place right around the middle of the timeline, chronologically. So if certain areas in the world seem drastically different compared to Survivor’s campaign when you explore them in other campaigns, that’s why.
@snolls1054 ай бұрын
oh cool, you installed downpour between this and the last episode. i'm excited to see you play through it. saint's campaign is my personal favorite. shame about the ending not being recorded. I remember losing my goddamn mind the first time. 8:21 - tbf, you're learning about the creatures and stuff. not 100% brute force. one thing I really like about this game is that everything has these little interactions that I still somehow discovered several hundred hours later. 12:21 - funny enough, I had the exact opposite first interaction with the guardians. they kill you if you have less than max karma. I stumbled into this area before finding Five Pebbles. However, I did run into an Echo on accident. So I was like "got it, the more eldritch it looks, the more likely it is to be friend," I say moments before a disaster. the one time you say "one of them has to be correct" is the episode where every since theory you gave was wrong. iconic. your thoughts during the ascension scene are peak. I will give you a heads up that Downpour has a different tone from base-game. I enjoyed my time with it, but the dlc was originally a mod and it kinda shows. Which I am saying as someone who really enjoys rain world mods. Like, seriously, I'm working on compiling a massive list of Rain World mod recommendations. There are a lot of really good fan regions, a few of which are actually getting canonized in the upcoming Watcher DLC. Definitely worth checking out at some point if that's your kinda thing. My main thought is "God I can't wait to watch this guy play the Hunter campaign." Since I think Hunter has the best story out of the slugcats. Though it's also fair if you save Hunter for later. It was the last campaign I finished due to its difficulty. Either way, it was awesome seeing you play through this game. A lot of people who do end up getting the story spoiled, usually by their Twitch chat or something. And your commentary was super entertaining to watch. Your plan on the DLC is fair. Personally it took me a week to beat most of the campaigns, however I tend to fuck around a lot. Most of the DLC slugcats can reasonably be beaten in a few sittings. Shortest was definitely Rivulet, which I beat in a few hours. Artificer took me a week because I fucked off from the main objective to go on Arti world tour. Anyways, yeah, glad you liked this game. It was fun to watch.
@QuinBoBin4 ай бұрын
They were all wrong!??? WHAT
@snolls1054 ай бұрын
@@QuinBoBin i mean, the iterators being the source of the rain was correct, but I think you guessed that in a previous episode? but yeah, literally everything else you said was off the mark, which is really funny since your track record up to this point in guessing has been very close if not just straight-up the lore. and you're totally right about the environmental storytelling for this game. It's really cool looking at the scenery and it telling a story on its own. I also really like how the game results in you wandering around aimlessly until you stumble upon an epiphany and nothing's the same again (though I definitely stumbled a lot more since I consumed Moon's neuron flies, which meant Iggy didn't send me to Pebbles). Personally, I think the game's lore is way more interesting as an unknown. Not even because I think the lore itself is bad, just because there's a sense of wonder you get from looking at all these ruins that look almost familiar and mulling over your own questions and musings. oh also, the thing I said about the rain deer. I feel like I want to clarify that I kinda half-agree with what you're saying. Like, I agree that it's cool that they're uncooperative and it is immersive. It's a valid pro. I think the cons of them being cumbersome and annoying to deal with also outweighs those pros for me. And I think making the rain deer more cooperative wouldn't necessarily be the only fix to Farm Arrays. Personally, I'd be a lot happier with the region if there were alternate routes to reach the important locations in it that let you circumvent dealing with the deer, which almost exists, except those portions of the region still require deer to traverse and tend to be long flat horizontal screens that aren't very interesting. Kinda like how the Five Pebbles region is really cool first time through, but I'd have a much lower opinion of it if I had to go through the entire thing every time I played the game. The zero gravity is both really cool, but also a little cumbersome, so I usually take the Wall to reach him, which is a much shorter but also more difficult route. But it's definitely a weird balance to make, in terms of level design. For example, a major issue I have with Chimney Canopy and Sky Islands is that a large portion of those regions feel completely unnecessary to run through once you know the map because they kinda just act as the long route to where you're trying to go. It works fine for first time through since you don't know that, but on repeat playthroughs, it sort just serves as a large portion of the map that I have zero reason to revisit. Which isn't the worst thing in the world.

Yippee!!! First finished playthrough of Rainworld I'm so happy for you 🎉 Some tips/facts: - Yes, centipedes are scared of cherrybombs. Just run past while they're wriggling in fear. - If you tame one black lizard, all black lizards in the area become friendly. If you tame a yellow lizard, the other yellow lizards remain hostile. - The void worms use the texture of a picture of corn. - Mother spiders are generally scared of you. - Don't be afraid to try alternate routes if one specific way is kicking your ass. This applies both between regions and within regions. For example, you can actually get to Subterranean through 1 region from Outskirts. Downpour adds some more alternate routes as well. - Please try the challenges (DLC). At least a few of them. They're cursed, but some are very fun.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this game, it truly is the best rat game. Just a warning for lore videos - a lot of them cover the events in the DLC, so if you want to go in without knowing what happens I'd recommend watching the lore videos from before Downpour's release, as that'll only cover Survivor, Monk and Hunter's campaigns. There's also an animated & voice acted video out there that covers all of the dialogue you get from Moon with the pearls, which can give you an outline of the lore, I'd highly recommend :) Also, my vote is with g o u r m a n d. Dude is the most simple DLC slugcat, but he is perfect with it.
@marino75444 ай бұрын
Thank you for the epic series Quin!!! Glad rainworld "clicked" for you, as some people just don't really get into it! About the lore, we do "know" some things for sure, (mainly through moon telling us) but a lot of the complete picture is just never really explained completely. Most rainworld lore videos are more of a collection of probable theories the community has kind of settled on. But in the end, your role in the game is that of a tiny small creature that doesn't really have an understanding of the complicated history of the world, which is what the game reflects in how a lot of the details are up for interpretation!! It's also worth mentioning that the dlc takes a lot of this ambiguity away by having a lot of it's protagonists actually have very significant roles in the grand scheme of things, and expanding and elaborating on a lot of the lore. Personally, although I like most dlc slugcats on their own, I'm not a big fan of how it takes away from the open-ended ness of the main game. But that's also why it's generally agreed upon that the dlc is to be viewed as a kind of alternate universe, with it's own version of the story. Which makes sense, seeing as it originally started as a community-made mod! In the end, I personally think the maingame and dlc are both a ton of fun to play, but they are each their own seperate thing, and have their own role and place in the greater rainworld world. (rain-world?) Excited to see more rainworld from you in the future! :)

I got into this game because of you :> really excited for the DLC. Also a lot of the lore questions you talked about were answered by the colored pearls - I collected them because I was sick and needed an Activity, but if you don't want to deal with that I'd at least recommend reading Moon's dialogue on the wiki, there's some really interesting stuff there. (If you do read it on the wiki though, be careful not to read the Hunter-specific pearl at the end. It's very spoilery for that campaign and I think you'd enjoy playing it when you've mastered the art of killing lizards.)

I actually just started a monk playthrough off camera and I plan to collect the pearls!

@@QuinBoBin Monk doesn't have the colored pearls!! They're replaced with grey pearls that Moon says are eroded to the point she can't read them.

Rain World is the best because halfway through the game your goal changes from “find your family” to “swim down an infinite sea below the world, a sea that eats the away the very earth, and ascend to a higher plane of existence by dissolving beyond being unable to die”

Oh man, what a shame that you lost the original material. How the universe manages to conspire so that it's the final footage that you lose is crazy. Massive respect that you decided to replay the entire game to get the ending. Cant wait to see you play with the other slugcats.

There’s something you should know by now (as in I’m telling you now) If a lizard (non-lethally) bites you, you can still throw any rocks or spears you’re still holding to get out. edit: Also I’m pretty sure moon told you where the water came from, and why… Oh and you didn’t break the cycle, you only escaped it.

The other slugcats have some interesting story lore in their campaigns. Some less interesting than others, but generally interesting. Hope you get to play them!

Apparently, getting ascended in this game makes the character see the thing it desires in it's life the most. (As it shows the slugtree from the start of the game with all his ancestors or something)

It has been so enjoyable to watch this series. I’d never heard of Rain World, and experiencing it with you for the first time was amazing! I love seeing games through your eyes, especially games like this that just sort of “click” with you. Now I must go find lore videos because…what happened to the slugcat…what even was that at the end, I am mystified. What a beautiful and mysterious game.

YOU DID IT!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it :] Your playthrough has been super nice to watch! Even through all the woes of Rain World you still kept strong through it all. TBH watching you play it made me feel like I did when I played it for the first time. I can't wait to see you play Downpour!! :D There's a ton of lore in that one, I absolutely cannot wait to see you do your theory crafting! Here's a head's up for the DLC scugs you need to know: You will have to play Gourmand or Artificer, and then BOTH of the slug cats that come after that to unlock the final campaign! So just prepare for that, take your time and enjoy it as you did this one :] And lastly, here's my recommended play order! (Look away if u don't want slug cat names and vague hints abt what's to come) Gourmand (Good warm up to the harder campaigns!!) Artificer (SUPER FUN + Gets you adapted to challenges in a *different* mentality. Not everyone's cup of tea but if ur into it, super refreshing.) Spearmaster (Arti mentality really helps with this campaign! Also great set up for the next two campaigns) Rivulet (Tbh it just really hits different after Spearmaster) Saint (Gotta do this one last no matter what bc bro is locked, but it's perfect anyhow!) Good luck!! :]

I'm so glad you've made it through this beautiful game quin!!! if you continue to play the other campaigns, i am absolutely here for the ride. and you have two options at this point right now, you COULD watch a lore video that makes sense of everything you've just experienced OR you can play the rest of the campaigns and try to piece together the story yourself (most players watch a lore video immediately after survivor and i wouldnt blame you, but i feel it would be an interesting experience to experience everything firsthand and piece together the story yourself)

I’ve really enjoyed watching you play this. I can’t play difficult games but I love watching other people play them. I’m so happy you’re going to play the other characters. I’d watch a full play through of all of them.

Heya, just wanted to say - great videos, man! I love watching you figure out this puzzle box of a story! Keep at it! By the way, each and every slugcat (yes, even Monk and Hunter, although Monk to a lesser extent) have their own story. They are vastly different to each other both from the narrative point and gameplaywise. I'd very much recommend completeng all of them (and yes part of the reason is that I do want to see 6-7 more playthroughs of this game from you
