I Beat Super Mario Odyssey with as Few Captures as Possible (Current Patch - 1P Mode)

This minimum captures speedrun was done on the current patch of the game in 1-Player mode, meaning the minimum amount of captures possible was 13. There are however other versions of the game you can play, such as version 1.0.0 in 2-Player mode, which would bring the minimum amount of possible captures down to 3. If you don’t want to do 3 caps, you can try 10 caps. It has some tough 2 player movement in Cascade to avoid Madame Broodal, but other than that it’s the same.

How come it is 13? Forgive me I may be behind on the minimum captures as of late but I’m sure in Bowsers Kingdom there used to be the jump with the wet but to avoid the final pylon?

Ike7 is right. The wet nut jump was patched on 1.2 of the game. This run is on 1.3. hope this helps

If the game doesn't consider walking into a pylon while in a capture to be a separate capture, couldn't you avoid having to do pokino by using it to walk into the final pylon and ending with the same number of captures? Or is it exclusively bowser where the game doesn't consider it a capture?

@@trentthen642 Yeah, to add to this the way the game handles the pylon at the end appears to be unique compared to other pylons, along with the transition of bowser into capturing said pylon. So yeah, it should be a just bowser at the end of the game thing.

As far as I know, no. The way the game handles that is a little bit different.

Also, you would have to capture the pokio, so even if that did happen, it wouldn't save any captures.

@@potatobearsmo well since this is on current patch, it'd save the wire capture, and technically you'd save the wire capture. so yeah it wouldnt save any captures but it'd be faster and easier. but yeah, no way that wouldn't count as a wire capture.
