I realize the "not help" part of the challenge can be very real for many single parents. But even as a stay at home mom, having a community of people around me who can step in and help when I need it is vital got my sanity and allows me to be the best mom I can be. To all parents out there, don't do this alone. Even if you are away from family and friends, seek out family groups and community. 💕

Completely agree! It’s really hard to when single parents, or any parent really, but especially single parents, have to work and then have to pay so much of that hard earned money to pay someone to take care of their kiddos just so they can work. Everyone needs a community no matter what kind of parent you are. And no one is going to be able to do all the things all the time! It’s just not realistic. So all the parents out there, single or not, know whatever you can realistically get done in a day is a win. Sometimes dishes or laundry have to pile up a bit to get work done or other important things. It will all eventually come together and things do get a bit easier as they get older.

As a single dad since my children were 2-years and the other 2-months, I appreciate that you're acknowledging all the work us single parents have to do. I would note, however, that we do sometimes get help from family if we have any, or good friends, if again we have any. Also, with your (at least suggested) income, you'd likely have set something up with a babysitter by this point if really in this situation, even if just a few hours while working.

I'm a single mom of 2. My baby is the same age as griffin. Your video made me feel much better about myself bc sometimes I fall asleep with a full sink of dishes and I feel lazy and down for it, but your video confirmed I shouldn't be so hard on myself bc I'm actually doing ALOT all day long. I'm sure if I saw myself on video all day I'd feel like a super woman. I know Abby is very greatful to have such a hands on dad.

The more he throws it up, the more you have to feed him. Just some mom advice, do with it what you want. :) You're doing a great job.

I really appreciate this video Matt! My dad has been a single dad to me and my sister for 6 years now I mean I am obviously older now but when it started I was 10 and my sister was 2 or 3 at the time my mother left us. She started to not care shortly after my sister was born and then two/three years later she left. My dad took us and wanted and still wants the best for us he is the best dad and works his a** of to give us the best live possible. He definitely could have needed some help over the years. Therer were nights he came home and did everything like an alive zombie just did his tasks and worked till he finally got sleep. I hope he knows how thankful I am and I love him for every single minute he was there, because he wasn't just there he was present and had a plan for us. This video hit different because it reminded me how much he really did all the time and how absolutely shi**y it is to leave your kids cause you somehow decide that you aren't a kids person anymore. I do not miss my mom anymore actually but I did and in the beginning it was so hard on me and my dad had to deal with me and my emotions too and I am still sorry for all he had to go through my mother was toxic af and she was extremely aggressive to all of us. Now I see it but back that I loved her and I couldn't understand why my dad was angry and stressed even though I was 10. Ok I am so sorry I think I have unfinished stuff I will stop telling my whole life story now 😅 sorry Buy thank you Matt! 😊 (OH and sorry for my English if there any mistakes I am not a native speaker)

I'm a single parent and it is SO hard. Never enough sleep, ends never meet, and I am my son's only comfort. I'm all he knows. From the womb it's just been him and I. It's so rewarding but so difficult being a single mom. I never imagined this for myself but I love my son and will do anything for him. I come home exhausted and just want to sleep but my son smiles at me and I get down on the floor and play. Thank you for modeling a day in the life. Loved this video! ❤ you guys!

I’m so glad that Abby got a break I’m one of five kids and I’m 13 and my mom had twins and I I saw how she got a break but it was super hard because my dad’s a firefighter so he spends a full day at the fire house and a full night so I saw how tired my mom was and I think I realize now that having a mom and dad is so amazing Matt you’re so amazing for being willing to do that and being a dad that cares ❤❤❤❤ And Abby I’m so glad that you got a break❤

You two are such good parents. I know you want to keep Griffin on a schedule but if you wait to feed him when he's hungry he will want to wait longer periods and eat more which will keep him full longer and much less vomiting. We used to keep our background kinda loud with tv and things running that it was easier for our son to stay sleeping and not awake so quickly with noises. I hope that helps a bit. Many Blessings your way. 💜

Lol, I just kept thinking to myself "Matt, buddy, put that kid in a dark & quiet room for his nap??" - and then a whole ALARM went off, omg I died 😅 But he is an actual CHAMPION at staying asleep in your lounge room! Incredible🤣 Very entertaining video (SO much editing!! Well done!!) - My little dude is the exact same age as Griffin and I also have HUGE respect for single parents, that is a tough, tough gig.

I found it’s better to actually not do a dark quiet room and to help them learn to sleep in any environment so you’re not stuck in a bind if you find yourself somewhere unusual during nap time. Just my experience though 😊

I just want to say this is amazing challenge you did to get insight on what others go through I lost my husband 2 years ago and we have four beautiful kids together ranging from age to 16 to 9 life has been tough since my husband passed away I work non-stop plus I'm a mom and take care of my house and the biggest thing that's been hard is financially I've taken a hit since losing him as well so even you wanting to help people put food on their table is absolutely amazing because I in the situation I'm in now can barely put food on my table and sometimes I sit around wondering how I'm going to feed my kids I work non-stop but bills overcome everything so you guys being willing to do this is amazing and I have a lot of respect for you both I have actually been in a super dark place and watching your videos and how upbeat and amazing you guys are is truly a blessing and helps me a little bit getting a better mindset just thank you for all you do and watching this gives me a tiny bit of hope that maybe things will get better for me and my kids sooner rather than later

I've already seen it in several of your videos and I have to say it now: please don't hit the baby's back so hard. Babies still have very fine ramifications of the bronchi and there is a risk that individual bronchi will burst if you pat to hard. Better rub the back or pat his tushi Sorry I had to say something

Hey, you guys should try kizik shoes. They are hands-free slip-on shoes. They are really comfy and come in many different colors. So when your baby is sleeping, and you need to go for a walk, you can slip on the shoes and go without binding down to tie them.

I think your both such amazing parents because your real. I’m a Mum of 8 children and I’m still only 22 years old. I had triplets at 16, twins at 18, 1 more at 20 and then twins again a few weeks ago at 22. I’m married but my husband is in the military so I’m not technically a single parents but I do 85% of it on my own. I have no help and no cleaners etc… his really hard work seeing as I have 8 under 6, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love my kids so much and I LOVE your channel. You two are such amazing parents. Xxx

Matt, I have a 5 month old that I try to get down for a nap every 2 hours to avoid being overtired. STROLLER! I am not kidding going on a walk around the time for nap is a life saver! Keeps you from rocking and stressing. My baby is out within 10 minutes of the walk and then I transfer him inside to a dark room.

I know this video is old but when I came across this video, it really hit for me. I know my daughter's father is in the picture but I have been playing the single parent role since she was born and it has been extremely difficult. Its especially difficult when I cannot spend enough time with her because I have to work to be able to take care of her and even then, it is still hard. Between my daughter's father and having no family, this has been a very treacherous journey for my daughter and I. Thank you so much for recognizing us!! Recognizing people who are in these types of situations or even situations like mine is so important because of what we have to go through for our little ones.
