I think it's pretty clear to you if you've watched the live streams my mechanic skills are below sub par, well at least I thought that! So Tim decided we need a Cycling Hub away day at Bike Inn. Bike Inn is where you can take your first steps in to bicycle mechanics. From a two day general maintenance course to the Modular Bicycle Mechanical Course which is the course the majority of UK mechanics in the industry go to.
If you're interested in learning more about you're own bike or you want to take your first steps in the industry I highly recommend heading up to see John & Dave at Bikeinn.co.uk

JESUS The corrosion on Tim's bars is INSANE! Love the Hambini call out! As for tools, I'm set. Having to work on my fleet of automobiles and race car helps with the surplus of tools. Probably have thirty 10mm sockets lying around, where I don't know but I have em! Fun vid Chris!

You’re well Bent!!!😂 Just done a Mechanic course with a local guy with a mate and I’m building my Emonda ALR with the same guy watching over my shoulder. All to give me more confidence working on my own bikes. Well done Pritch, knowledge is key and good luck with the MTB job, don’t forget you’ve always got your LBS if needed🤣😁😉 Really good video mate👍

Great video Chris, loved it...funny as. I had a Sensa bike with 105 which also would never index, always clicking or noisy. Replaced pretty much everything to no avail, it would index ok on a stand but underload riding it the noise was there. The bike had to go.....

I can tear down and build up a bike pretty well but the fine tuning stuff is difficult. You're right about having the right tools for the job. For the most part, I can make do with some cheap Chinese parts and a nice torque wrench so I can get things torqued to proper spec.

6:02 need to use a torque wrench there, 40NM, unless you do it everyday it's easy to over or under tighten. especially with those long levered tools.

@mrjono999
@mrjono999 2 жыл бұрын
I get bikes in that have loose cassettes regularly in my shop, 40NM and a fresh crush washer is important. Also, over 40nm the threads can be damaged. It’s why it has a torque setting on the cassette, it’s not there for decoration.

btw. What are you supposed to do about handlebar corrosion? Does bar tape need frequent replacement?
@winstoncat6785
@winstoncat6785 4 жыл бұрын
@Jason Dorset Mamil Cycling thanks!. I don't do indoor cycling, but outdoor is bad enough in summer. The problem is, there's just no going back when you change bar tape. But even doing so frequently, the metal parts of brake levers are vulnerable. I'll do both my bikes this year.
