OH MY GOD! I have Retinitis Pigmentosa and am going blind. My dad and uncle are both blind. For my dads side of the family it passes through the boys so I should not have it but somehow I do. I’m really scared because I’m only 13 and am already really struggling. This helped so much! I’ve not been diagnosed yet but there’s pigment on both of my eyes so it is a huge possibility.

I know it’s not the same as being blind but I remember wanting to correct my vision when my myopia first kicked in. But it could only be done when I would be 21. Guess what, I’m almost 22 and I love my glasses. Myopia is technically not a disability in most cases, but classes still assist with vision so… I think many people have the ability to adapt so much that the new way of living becomes the norm and they can’t imagine going back to what was before. Glad you have a supportive family!

Hey That Blind Girl Layla how did handle being visually impaired at 14, I was 10 when I was diagnosed with RP in the beginning I was confused scared and basically angry at the world because I was scared of being different and that I wouldn’t be able to do the things I love like dance and chorus but I’ve noticed in these past four years that I am able to still do things that I love to do even though I have to do it differently

I know that there are Christians who believe God supports & accept us (including, not despite, our sexual/romantic orientation). I'm also aware that others suffered worse than I did, but it was all too much for me so I had to abandon most of my beliefs so I can heal. Maybe one day I'll become a Christian again, but until then I consider myself agnostic.
