@@mollysmeow3455..we don't know if Ralph King (the BF) sexually assaulted Tawana. No proof and no allegations. We DO KNOW that he stabbed his first wife 14 times....and then, while on trial for stabbing her, he finished her off with a shotgun. Murder 1.....7 years in Attica for King. He had a violent temper and was a drunk and drug addict as well. Glenda knew that if Ralph King found out that she and Tawana had done this whole thing to fool him, he'd beat them senseless IF they were lucky. If they were unlucky....he'd kill them. This is why Glenda never told the truth about what happened becuase there was never a crime what she and Tawana did. But Glenda couldn't risk Ralph King finding out. The only reason it went national is because Glenda's sister, Juanita, who raised Tawana during her early years, was never brought into the loop on the plans of Glenda and Tawana...she THOUGHT Tawana really was raped/attacked. Glenda never told her sister...so Juanita called the FBI and WCBS-2 TV and that led to this going national. Otherwise, it stays local and maybe Glenda explains things in quiet to the sheriff or police that it's all nothing and please go away. This "hoax" is easily figured out. You just need to use facts and not hearsay and bad memories from 35 years ago.

He knew it was false on Day 1. He pushed it and PAID the Brawley's to go along with The Hoax after they wanted it to fade (see my posts above). That's why they were NEVER going to let Tawana or Glenda (the mother) testify or answer questions. They would risk a perjury crime and go to jail whereas telling the truth was not an option (it would expose Sharpton & Co. as liars and frauds). Remember: what Glenda and Tawana planned (fooling Ralp King into thinking Tawana was attacked) was NOT a crime.

Again...read my posts above. Sharpton is LYING in this interview; he knew the Brawley's were lying from Day 1 and he PAID THEM $$$ to go along with The Hoax later on. Again...he and the lawyers had nothing to do with the initial incident. Where they came in was when it was determined no attack took place, Sharpton and Co. claimed a coverup was in place even though they knew no attack took place. Did they know that Tawana/Glenda were lying because they feared a beating/killing from Ralph King ? Maybe...maybe not. I'm not sure. But they KNEW it was a hoax and that no rape/assault had taken place. Sharpton even told an associate that it didn't matter if nothing happened to Tawana...that black people were "too stupid" to figure out the truth and they would believe anything he and the lawyers told them. Regrettably, alot of blacks proved him right.

He knew and lied. It was all a scam.

I was about the same age as Tawana Brawley when I saw this case on the news in New York over forty years ago, what always stuck with me about the case was the interview with a veteran white police officer who was clearly moved and compassionate when he said " I don't know what happened to to this girl, but I know it was horrible." The other thing that struck me about the case was the undignified way Al Sharpton handled it, he gave a press conference in a track suit literally in repose laying on the sidewalk, which I thought was stupid and disgustingly low behavior.

same with me I was her age too. I believed her then and believe her still. I don't think they took the time to investigate, really process evidence or anything else with this case. The NYT made a whole documentary about it, but still veered towards the police point of view. I think Al Sharpton went too far, but at the same time back then if he didn't act a fool it wouldn't get the media coverage. Meanwhile the media coverage didn't result in any real investigation just a bunch of BS. Once a couple law enforcement became suspects, then it was HELL NO...not the NYC police..."It's a hoax...she did all that to herself". I'm older now looking at it like...HMMMM

@@nakiap2596...you clearly haven't researched the facts. This isn't even a tough case to figure out it's a fraud. The cops knew it was a fraud and hoax on Day 1. Start with the fact that Tawana and Glenda (her mother) staged The Hoax to fool Ralph King, the abusive BF of Glenda. No other persons other than those 3 were supposed to know about it. But Glenda and Tawana screwed up on the timing when Glenda was supposed to "find" Tawana....neighbors found out...called 911.....police involved....Glenda scared that Ralph would hurt/kill her or Tawana....Glenda and Tawana say nothing hoping it disappears.....very easy to figure out. Sharpton relies on ignorant blacks who don't research the facts to go along with his nonsense. He even SAID IT: he told an associate a few weeks into The Hoax that it didn't matter if anything happened to Tawana, that black people would buy it and they could then start a movement...or a race war. See my post above about what REALLY happened with the lack of testimony. Now....do you REALLY want to believe a liar and fraud like that ?

He's trying to compare a case where the was no rape/assault (Tawana Brawley Hoax) with a case where there were 2 dead bodies (OJ Simpson). The only thing they have in common is that both perps got off.

I went to school with Tawana Brawley and she was a very quiet "A" student at the time. A cousin of hers about the same age as us moved in with her and her family from New York City because he was getting in trouble down there all the time. He was a straight-up rotten influence on her and basically got her partying and staying out past her curfew and got her to do and say all that crazy crap she claimed happened to her. Al sharpton and a bunch of other prominent black and white figures ran with it without knowing the facts and played the fool. I know it's hard to admit when you're wrong but damn Al it's been over three decades already. Just say you're sorry. I mean we were all duped by her.

Jason, I believe Tawana's cousin Kendra Small was there but she's not a he. LOL The 2 books on The Hoax both indicate that it was Tawana's BF's that were the problem. Sharpton & CO. DID know the facts. They knew it was a hoax and that is why they never cooperated: they didn't want the truth coming out so they could lie to the black community and foment racial strife. The locals knew it and Brawley and Sharpton were exposed within days. Interesting that the local black who KNEW the Brawleys never belived them from Day 1. They KNEW the Brawley's were liars and con men and whenever you see old footage of the protest rallies, it is blacks bussed up from NYC (many paid by Sharpton & Co.).

I remember reading about her case in Jet and Essence magazine! Then we saw the Dateline episode covering her case. She had confined in a male peer, he step father was abusing her. And a neighbor saw her boyfriend tie her up in a trash bag and she hopped to the scene where she was found! So much mess and so many sides of the story!!! It’s crazy! 🤔

I saw some videos of her in her forties and she looked terrible. Keeping a lie going for that many years has to be murder. And Sharpton has gotten rich and has politicians kissing his ring.
