You forgot to mention the Bangkok Post newspaper's headoffice on Rajdamnern Ave almost opposite to the Democratic monument. I was a senior editor there for a few years beginning early in 1969 and even rented a house withing a short walk from the Bangkok Post.

Thailand has come a long way in term of democracy, and there's also still long way to go. We, Thais, will not stop ! Thanks Chris and Kuhn Rutorn for taking us back to the old days of BKK. Although I am Thai, I still don't know much and forgot a lot about the history. The more I learn about BKK, the more I love this beautiful city 💕

Too small for venders ,so the Banhkok Metropolitan Administration moved to JJ market that bigger than the royal ground by renting Thai State Railway land.
Interesting. A good guide to show you around. Nice guy. I haven’t been back to Thailand for fifteen years now! Last time I was there was to get engaged with a Vietnamese woman! I met in Hong Kong. We were living in Manila at the time. I proposed to her at the nice Oriental Hotel. Owned by the Mandarin Oriental group. I loved their “Writers Lounge” there. That’s where I proposed to her. Was great. Thai people and Thai food is great.

0:41: The middle Ratchadamnoen Avenue is the birthplace of Bangkok and was built by King Rama V in 1903. 1:24: The monument symbolizes Thailand's struggle towards democracy. 2:31: The Monument to the 14th October 1973 uprising is a significant political landmark. 5:20: The Dalai Lama stayed in the hotel in July 1969. 5:40: U.S. President Richard Nixon visited the hotel and waved at the narrator when he was a schoolboy. 6:05: The hotel is also the place where the first batch of Red Bull was created by Mr. Chaleo Yoovidhya. 10:31: The Garuda is a highly regarded symbol in Thai society and is the official emblem of the Thai government. 11:44: The Chao Phraya River in Bangkok was man-made 480 years ago to make it straighter and more navigable. 12:38: Bangkok became the capital city when King Rama the first established it in 1782. That was a GREAT video. I may need to rewatch it to figure out whereabouts you actually were walking. I did love hearing his proper pronunciation of Thai names versus yours😅 because mine is the same as yours😅 except Siam. I learnt that on the BTS announcements. Good to know i mispronounce Chao Phraya. But they're too polite to worry about our pronunciation. From someone long in India i can tell you he's mistaken to call Hinduism mythology which suggests old concocted stories. And i didn't get the name he called VISHNU but i always understood it to be WITSANU. Ok nice video

There was a report in the Bangkok Post a few years ago about the statue of the constitution being removed from Bangkok, but your video showed it. What happened?
@insightwisdom7022 Жыл бұрын
Your former post was deleted then you are trying to make King Rama the 10 look bad in the eyes of global citizens ,so what is your reason? You are definitely moving forward party disciples or we call in Thai rotten orange groups.
@konthaijaidee3035 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure the one that was removed was the statue of constitution.
@Stephen-New Жыл бұрын
There used to be a plaque at the Royal Plaza which commemorated the 1932 revolution. In April, 2017, the plaque was removed and replaced by a plaque commemorating Buddhism, the state, the family, and the monarchy. This is probably the event that you are thinking of (but it was not at the Democracy Monument).

Great video but seems like someone is editing in a flashing transition, from scene to scene. I’ve never seen that in your videos before but it’s quite unpleasant for the viewer. Is it possible to consider not using that in the future, love the channel. Sorry, from a fellow Canadian!
