Favourite meal in Thailand was at Sawaan in Bangkok. Michelin star restaurant where i had my 60th birthday. Spectacular food and service. Honourable mention to Golden Fish Restaurant on Bang Tao beach, Phuket at the other end of the price scale. Great food, location and service.

Coming back from Japan, I feel that Bangkok has a lot less comparable to Tokyo. Tokyo is extremely good-looking, clean and modernised and safe. I find Bangkok difficult to live as a local if I have to be honest. Having said that I know Thailand has its beauty but it's hard for me to feel convinced. So, as a Thai person, I'd like to hear from you about why foreigners decide to become expats in Bangkok, Thailand, rather than other more developed Asian cities like Tokyo, Japan? Besides the relatively lower cost of living in Bangkok, what are the other motivation/inspirations??

The reason? Isn’t that obvious, it’s cheaper , same amount of money can get you more in Thailand, bigger apartment. Where can you get 1 hr foot massage or cut the hair for 300 bath in Japan? Food and hospital are also good that there are people who travel to Thailand just for food or health care. Even Japanese expat will cry when they were sent back to Japan because in Thailand they can have luxury lifestyle , they can hire house maid, in Japan the average Joe can do that? of course not, only the rich one. And of course you can get cheaper cost of living in poorer country than Thailand but do they provide the same safety, infrastructure, health care?(actually it’s Bangkok’s infrastructure, not Thailand in general)
