I’m so glad you did this. I thought I was the only one that ate this combo. I love the tamales!!!! Knorr pasta/rice sides are legit. The Taco Rice is my fave along with some refried beans and salsa and cheese. Fun dip. Also The Tamale Guy is a Legend!!!! My bar days back in the day were always lit when he showed up. Knorr used to be branded "Lipton" in the U.S. Don't know why they changed it, I'd have thought Lipton was better known here than Knorr. Anywho, instead of chicken flavored rice with tamales, try Mexican or Spanish flavor (though as you said, there's like twenty to choose from). Knorr (nee Lipton) has similarly packaged pasta by the pasta section (usually) with an equal number of flavors to choose from. Before I was directed to cut back on carbs I ate either all the time, who can argue with a terrifically flavored rice or pasta, ready in ten minutes, that works as a side (to almost anything), or you can add nearly anything to it (tuna, sliced sausage, veggies, etc.).

Goya makes a fanatic Spanish style rice. It also makes a really easy one pot arroz con pollo. I forget the brand, but there's also a quick risotto that's really good. It's in a beige/gray box

Normally hormel is pretty low quality stuff, especially their chili which is basically water and beans but the Tamales are worth the price. They are over $2 a can now though.

Never had either, but plan on trying it. I’m scared I’m going to really love this. I said (jokingly) to my son at the beginning of the playoffs that the Raiders or Bengals would win the Superbowl. Why, my son asked? Because last year the Bears beat Brady and the Bucs and they won the Superbowl. With the Bears beating the Raiders after Gruden got fired and then picking off Burreaux (spelled for you New Orleans fans) 3 times on 3 consecutive passes to beat the Bengals, it was only natural one of these teams would win it :)

My daughter's friends family moved. And they were a Spanish speaking household. So the kids were translating for us. And they have us all their food in their house bc they didn't want to waste it or try to move it all across the country. And that was last fall. 2022. Lol and there was a bunch of cans of tamales. I don’t know what ever made me try these weird canned tamales 🤔 maybe I was hungry while shopping, but I’m embarrassed to say that I kinda like them. Lots of folks eat canned chili, so why not tamales? I’ve only eaten them twice before, and even forced my friend to try them. She had a hard time admitting that they were kinda tasty. I’m just gonna keep this my little secret 🤫 By the way Sean, you didn’t cook your rice long enough. It’s supposed to be “fluffy” not watery.. but as long as you liked it, that’s all that matters.

That might be the most ghetto meal I have seen on here, but I would still eat it. I have had Knorr rice which is good, but never the Hormel tamales. I think if you want to take these budget meals up a notch, see what you can make from scavenging Dollar Tree.
