Traditional Irish stone cottage renovation - restoration video of our DIY house renovation.
This week at our remote Irish stone cottage renovation, the derelict barn gets a new floor! Now it's a bit of a bodge job, but hopefully it will see us through whilst we make room for the big projects coming up.
Restoring a stone house isn't easy, and I needed a quick, budget friendly way of getting a new floor in the old derelict stone barn.
With Emily not here, I find myself working alone on this DIY project. Building a workshop will help massively as we move forward on our little off grid Irish homestead!

#CrackingJobLouise 👏👏👏👏 I was going to say the same thing. As long as it's dry in that space (fix any holes in the roof), that floor should last ages. If you change the orientation of the door so it opens outwards, there's even a chance of placing a ramp up to the "temp" floor so you could wheel things up or down in to the shed. ❤❤❤❤

This 200 year old cottage is getting more and more like "Trigger's Broom". It's only had a new floor, new fireplace, hot-limed walls, and I'm sure we'll see a new roof (once another crack is found). Who knew it would be so rivetting ? We're all rooting for youse.

I am building a shed for my garden tools and so far i have a sore thumb, a cut in my pinkie and the shingles are not so very pretty and not so very straight on the roof. But its mine, and i did it. My temporary workshop floor was not perfectly flat, no dpc or varnished & I’ve just replaced it 8 yrs later…. I reckon yours will definitely be reet for a good 15yrs +. Love a good recycle, you did a fantastic job & it is going to make work life so much better. Made my weekend seeing what you’ve both been up to, Aj’s adorable face & summer getting her exploring in. At our Lions charity shop we use an old upright freezer with the glass shelves replaced with wood as a tool / parts storage. It lives outside and works really well. We even have had a couple of people want one making.

Hi Emily & Louise, In his first book, 'Bravo Two Zero' , Andy McNab (former SAS soldier) referred to the Seven P's; 'Proper Planning & Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance'. Love watching a professional do bodging. It’s also refreshing to see someone else working around their clutter. I insist on cleaning the workspace, first, when I’m doing anything for someone else, but when it’s my own, I work around, through, in, under, or whatever is necessary. The funny thing is I forget it’s your vlog day and then I see it and I get excited all over again….every time. You never cease to amaze me with your work ethics and you choose great music.
