I BOUGHT 2 CRASHED FORD KA’S FROM COPART!!

I buy from Copart sometimes,most have been ok but watching the auction just lately the cars are making so much that there is hardly any profit left in them.

There’s a good Facebook group called Copart Victims that I’m on and regularly see some awful cars go for £££ over what any sane person would pay. A lot of people think Copart is a scam but so far I’ve been lucky where I’ve made profit on each project but I am a DIYer and not a business with overheads to pay for. It’s luck with the market I feel when making profit, I’ve had some projects so long that for some reason that particular make or model is at a high point. Buy low and sell high I guess? I’ve always tried to find the cars that no one is particularly looking at and barely any preliminary bids so on auction day there’s not as much interest in them

They bid up the cars and have been doing for yrs. All the yards are linked up and bid on each others cars.

I'm surprised it's financially worthwhile to repair these. I had a new one (Zetec) on PCP from a main dealer in 2014, under £80 per month (yup, per month not per week). It's a big step up from the original Ka; my elder daughter had one of those as her first car. For a town car it was great, not too bad for short motorway trips but hopelessly impractical for more than 2 adults. I had an engine sensor failure that almost left me stranded when it was about 20 months old and under 10k miles, took almost a week for diagnosis and repair under warranty at no cost to me. Traded up to a Fiesta ecoboost which is somewhat bigger but much more fun to drive, and bought that at the end of the PCP

They’re cheap cars mate and plenty of parts about. I hope at the end there is some profit in these. I’ve never rebuilt one before so I thought I’d have a go. Definitely not massive amounts in these but they won’t take me long at all to sort out so fingers crossed🤞🏻 I much prefer the fiestas myself, looking to rebuild an ST model at some point soon😄

Ford Ka is not a very practical car, but it drives surprisingly good and has good fuel economy. Is something about the suspension and the low center of gravity that made it fun to drive. I hated the long doors, and the poor quality. Got a Fiat Panda instead, same engine.

This generation KA and the 169 Fiat Panda are based on the same platform, the only major difference is the body, majority of parts are also interchangeable. It is the same with the Fiat 500, I call the Panda a practical 500 hence why I chose one as my first car. Great cars!

When I picked up the service kit they told me it was the exact same! Really interesting to see which companies work together etc. After looking around them both they definitely haven’t been built very well or haven’t done great over the last 10 years since being built lol

Apparently if it states that the V5 is present all you have to do is ring copart and they will forward it on to you

If it says the V5 is present on the auction then it will arrive in the mail a few days / week later. They don't leave them in the car or give them to the delivery driver in case they are stolen.

The blue ka is a 55 plate, 2009 is first year that shape came out.

Yeah they aren’t built very well after looking around them both. I think the exhaust has rusted through on the red one 🤦🏼‍♂️
