I love the Meier’s Jil Sander woman. And although a lot people didn’t like Jil Sander’s Jil Sander, I felt her redefinition of the brand asserted the luxury aspect that went missing during Raf’s tenure. Raf’s Jil Sander was very beautiful and challenged minimalism but the quality of the garments was horrible. When Jil Sander came back, the quality difference between the two was like night and day. It became a luxury brand again. And Jil Sander was all about quality, right from the start. Her output during 2013 might not have been ground breaking, but she was never about reinvention for reinvention’s sake. She defined what luxurious modern dressing is, and during the 80s and 90s, it was quite incidentally ground breaking. If her 2013 output seemed meh, it’s because we’re living in a world she dreamt up decades ago. And perhaps her output seemed dated to some because it was a collection not made for the world obsessed with social media and hype. And I’m glad to see that the Meiers maintained the quality. Although, while I feel the Meiers have a clear and beautiful vision of who the JS woman is, the men’s side needs more assertion. The men’s side is pandering to the street style customer, and I get that hypebeasts buy anything expensive as long as there is a huge logo on it and therefore help the bottom line, the collection presentation and branding need not be entirely street since it just feels like any other brand out there. Plus, it feels such a disconnect to the women’s side. One can produce a distinct visual identity and still sell the logo stuff to drive the business. But I guess, it could be worse. Let’s just be thankful that JS still exists (and pray that it continues to exist in this path)

Tuba, you are a breath of much needed air in the KZbin space. Your analysis, wit, beauty (yes you are!) and your hilarious sister are what made me a fan. More than that, how you regard clothing has definitely reignited my love of fashion after 'Instagram fashion' and everything that came with it made me disengaged to something meaningful. Love from South Africa!

The way you dealt with the hilarious interruptions from your precious (little, I assume) sister, is priceless. The two of you are a stunning double act. I already loved your wit and acute discernment,but these random asides: “do you want something to drink? The shoes are the wheels! “ are a total comedic upgrade.😊 love it ( and her)❤the timing is genius!

I initially came to your channel bc of Celine PP era and Jil Sander which I crave. You did not disappoint with sharing these pieces of art. I really appreciate how you spend time showing the construction of the garments. You are not the average KZbinr showing a haul of logo fested items. Just like the designers you are about quality not quantity or logos.
@tubaavalon2 жыл бұрын
Thank youu! Glad to hear people can benefit from the videos. I love to have a detailed look on all things I love, also important to truly appreciate the things we have and understand what workmanship stands behind them. Logos are ok, if done artistically and not just to say hi I’m here.

Oh my goodness! Thank you for sharing. I love seeing the details, construction and interior of the pieces. So so good. Yes, that’s truly what makes the difference in a piece. Love what Luke and Lucie are making. It sounds like you and your sister know a lot about construction. I’d be interested in more content of this kind if you were pulled in that direction. Impressive craftsmanship in my wardrobe I think is Acne Studio blazers. One from over 10 years ago. It’s simple and the details are subtle and interesting. It’s a long, loose, straight cut that just hangs so nicely. Even when I’ve gone years without wearing it, I always keep it. And another Acne blazer I just got. It looks like an over sized men’s blazer but the tailoring gives it an elegant and feminine feel while being “too big”. Detail detail detail. Thank you again for sharing. 💕

No it's not, it's terrible. Look at the frumpy and bulky silhouette. Sexy is when the silhouette fits your form. This isn't sexy, period. It doesn't matter if all the fashion houses are hopping on this shitty trend.

May I ask how tall you are? I was also wondering if you tailor pieces in length or just kinda roll with the way they are.
@ancientsprout3 жыл бұрын
Wondering the same!
@tubaavalon3 жыл бұрын
good question! I am not tall, 5“5 but i still try not to tailor if possible. I won’t do it on these pants for instance. Even if it touches the ground. I’ll just watch out when wearing it, that it doesn’t destroy the fabric. Sometimes it’s impossible not to, but I feel like it always changes the proportion. I have many tailored pants which were like 2m long, where I think they create them on purpose so long. I mean, who the hell is that tall?
@steff.55803 жыл бұрын
@@tubaavalon Exactly, they actually look really cool like this and I think they would lose a bit of their charm if tailored. I sometimes love extra length on pants but I'm always afraid that I'll ruin the pants if they hang on the ground (I'm also about 1m60). And then I subconsciously end up not wearing them that much which sucks because I want to. Or they end up living more in the laundry basket than on myself. So that's why I asked haha.
