I've gone through 2 2ZZ engines on my MR2 and K-Swaps are just silly expensive, and the 2GR route doesn't seem that much better, but exploiting a high efficency 2AR engine to make as much as 240 horsepower sounds very interesting so I'm really looking forward to how that turns out

What caused your 2zz’s to go? Just curious as i’ve owned three 2zz cars so far and all have been nothing but durable. Recently purchased a mr-s and the 2zz is still my preferred swap. But I’d love to hear from people who have actually done the swap.

@@izzy031096 Oil starvation if not upgraded to baffled sump is very common. Otherwise the rod bearings are common to go when the engine is battered on

Looks like a page out of the Handbook of Frankenstein motorworks for the MR2. You should work together with him. Very smart guy and he figured out the whole 2ar-fxe cam deal and made 240hp NA. Plus he made engine mounts, cams, chassis pcb for the beans protocol etc.

It being a k20a3 out of an rsx means it already has some of the things you want when building a k series. 1. The type s oil pump, all rsx k20’s came with it, only the ep3 and 8th gen civic si had balance shafts 2. The 50 degree vtc gear, early year a3’s had them stamped pnd, while later years said rbc

HOLY SHIT A 2AR MOTOR!!!!!!!!! dude i was on the forefront of the 2AR motors. I had a second gen scion tc that was making 350whp completely stock with a turbo and manual transmission. other than ECU related issues it ran like a dream. Stephan Papadakis has proved this motor is VERY capable. really really stoked to see this build come to fruition

The S2000 was my first dream car. I made a giant collage with all of the parts and accessories that I would have put on it, cut out of all the Import Tuner, DSport, etc. Magazines that i bought literally every month. Wheels, tires, suspension, bodykit, exhaust, engine parts, interior bits. You name it, it was on there. I wish I still had it so that I could look back at my old ideas and see if I would choose anything differently today compared to back then. I think it would be fun to build my original idea just for grins and giggles. Hell maybe it would've turned out insane (I have always done a ton of research on a given subject before actually getting into said subject)

@@dat_bouy Nah man, i wouldn´t say > all day. People who are tracking their cars swap jseries for K, even on cars that already came with J like acura TSX. The J series is good starting point, having more torque and HP from the start, but once you start modifying the K, it will quickly get on top. Boltons won´t get you far with the J since it´s belt driven economy engine with single overhead cams and it can´t be fitted with high lift cams due to head design. Both are great engines, but i feel like most americans are go crazy for J, only because of the displacement. The engine doesn´t have that much going for it outside the fact that it is honda. ;) But that´s just my opinion. Enjoy whatever you wish.

@@RealLeskot I think you mean the TL, not the TSX. The TSX only came with the K24 up until the 2012 when they added the J35 to the second gen, but no one races the second gen.

Don't forget the crank and rods. Those stock a3 rods won't hold up and sadly their is no aftermarket rods for the a3 crank.
