This Altima has a CVT transmission. This is why you don't feel shifting gears. Continuous Variable Transmission= CVT. Nothing wrong with, I had one and it takes time to get used to the way it drives.

Could be a head gasket. 3.1 and 3.4 also have intake gasket problems. When gaskets go bad can leak antifreeze into oil and I have seen them also leak oil into cooling system...

Lucky, if doesn’t have a bow tie on the grill, I don’t want it. LTZ with a sunroof, rear spoiler, oh yeah. G6, you can flip that In your sleep, nice score. Altima another easy flip, you can sell this to any uber driver, no gears on that CVT, you have to ease into it on take off. Throw on a MAF sensor on the Buick, change the oil and put in some Rislone engine treatment you’ll be ok.

The oil will look froathy and have more of a chocolate milk color to it whenever coolant gets into the oil. It'll be a lighter color, not that dark sludgy color. That engine just hasn't been maintained properly. Which is why it's crucial to always maintain the fluids in your vehicle. If done correctly at the right intervals your car will last a very long time. It's one of the major downsides in buying an used vehicle. Always check to see how the oil looks, check for sludge and carbon buildup underneath the oil cap. As far as that Buick I'd give it a good cleaning. Buy 2 cans of seafoam it'll work wonders. Put like half a 3/4 a can in the crankcase and drive it a few hundred miles. Put the rest in the gas tank. Then run 1/2-3/4 a can through the brake booster vacuum line that leads to the plenum intake. Put the rest in the gas tank. When you suck up the sea foam through the vacuum line make sure to give it some throttle so it won't bog out and die. Once it sucks in all of that sea foam shut it off for 5-10 min. Then start it up and you'll see so much smoke that ppl will think the car is on fire. That's just the carbon burning out that was in the upper intake and valve train. Then after you drove it for atleast 50-100 miles do an oil change. It'll clean up a lot of that sludge. If it has a lot of miles you risk cleaning it too well. It can compromise any bad seals and may cause it to have a leak. But this only happens in engines that were extremely neglected. By using the seafoam it'll definitely turn that car around. The difference will be night and day. It'll quieten down the noise the engine makes, it'll be more responsive, get better mpg, and so forth. I stand behind sea foam, it works wonders on a lot of cars. I always sea foam every car that I've bought. The next thing you'll have to do is just a tune up. So total cost would be less than 50 bucks and it'll definitely increase the chances in selling it.
