Watch as we start to restore this 1951 B-3-PW Civilian Dodge Power Wagon. I start by giving you a full tour and walk around of this 4x4 vintage truck and then we remove both front fenders, headlights, and wheel well guards that have been rusted on for almost 70 years!

Good luck guys, Ive got a '65 WM300, great truck the the frame and cross members are totally shot. Probably going to have to do a frame-ectomy one of these years.

Nice! I only have one area of concern on my frame but no cancerous rust so I think I kinda lucked out. Thanks for watching!

This is a dream project of mine. I'm glad you are doing it and showing progress. Can you provide cost of purchase and a loose budget for this build? Just curious. Honestly, best of luck to you mate

Has been a dream of mine forever. I know how easy it is to dump money into projects like this but I am trying to be reasonable. I bought it for $4,000 which is on the lower end in California. Probably spent $1500 so far on parts and other random stuff. At first I was very organized with receipts so I could have a good idea on how much I spent on it but the more I work on it the more I want to save it for my kids and keep it as a cool project I did with my dad so money isn't something I'm focussing on too much. Keep searching Craigslist and use www.searchtempest.com to search all Craiglist in the US and hopefully one day your dream can become a reality too. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I cringe when I see you walking on the truck. I restored my 52 the worst part of the job was repairing the bodywork where people were standing on it.

DIY SCOTT... Hallo Young Gentleman, As I Have been in Your Ages I bought from US-Mil.-Surplus my 1st- Vehicle M37-Korean-Model Dekades back. Congratulation to wake up - this *Beast. It saved my day see an *Enthusiast; not sitting all times on computer. As I did also - to compensive - too my hard business Job that time. Especially fascinating me the * Genius- Mil.-US constructions w/Exchangeable Universal assy + parts.... and 'Special Thanks The Issues of TM-Manuals.. So could. other's did follow also M160 + M38A-Willy's. Only with a Half-Track-M3 - did need Help. But especially this vehicle had had most interesting History: came in hands of German (DAK) mil.-Africa-Corps captured by 'Wehrmacht; later again in German Bundeswehr start 1956 -sold to Belgian Army - last but not least = I bought it from DPDO-US-Army in Kaiserslautern, in 70-ties - as finished US-Army Belgian Contract of land -lease. (Poor France-Army - used HalfTracks - until - Mid-70-tees, too) Most surplus 1/2-Tracks hs gone to Israel- felt sorry because most destroyed in Middle-East battles. But enough, for today. Wishing Yo all the *Best and all-time fun with Your *Nightmare Greetings from Germany God Bless Amerika......

Scott what are your plans with the Power Wagon? Maybe I should ask are you going to make it just drivable work truck or are you going to restore it back to new? I have just done a frame off on a 50 Power Wagon virtually the same truck as yours and I bought mine out of Washington State it had 18K original miles but was used on the farm as a crane truck utilizing the front winch and by the condition of the front leaf springs it looks to have been loaded heavy on the front a few hundred times. The biggest thing my truck had going for it was the condition it was running (in a fashion) but had virtually No rust the cab and fenders were 100% rust free! but the truck had sat for a fairly long spell and both ring and pinions plus all the bearing needed replacements and that carried through with both the transmission and transfer case. I did overhaul the engine and by the look it had again been used and run a lot based on wear but just not driven much. I overhauled the PTO and steering box and they are the last thing to install before the body starts to go back on. Let me know if your going to do the full resto and I will give you my email and I can sure answer questions as they pop up trust me everything is very fresh in my mind I have almost been thinking of nothing else for the last year! Good luck with this and if I can assist let me know even if its only answering questions and I can also tell you where to get parts at decent prices! Karl

Hey! Sounds like you made yourself a pretty nice DPW. So far what I'm going for is getting it running and driving and get the body good enough to spray some paint on it. Definitely won't be pristine but I'm trying to keep everything as original as possible. I think mine may have also had some sort of pole derrick at some point because I have some big supports underneath the middle of my fenders with holes drilled through. No sign of a PTO though which is weird. You're lucky you found a rust free one, I definitely bit off a little more than I can chew with the rust but that's okay hahaha. Thanks for reaching out!

www.duplicolor.com/product/engine-enamel-with-ceramic/ It must of been the Cast Coat Iron or the New Ford Gray cause those are the only grays I see online. I got it from Pep Boys

How much do you pay this..... Just wanna know :)
@DIYSCOTT
@DIYSCOTT 3 жыл бұрын
4k. (About right for the condition it was in). People pay crazy money for these compared to other trucks of its time. Probably could find one a little cheaper in a field somewhere but most people want 18k if it "drives".

Hahaha I have been looking and searching for one of these for years so I am not going to allow that to happen. I am not going to lie and pretend like I have done anything like this before but I have lots of people feeding me information and willing to help to make sure it is done the right way and if you got any helpful hints they would be greatly appreciated!!

@@DIYSCOTT Mate I was not saying that you gonna literally ruin the truck I'm not an expert myself lol for what I understood of what you said on the video was that you gonna paint the truck which is fine perhaps you gonna do a full restoration of the truck in my humble opinion I would live the original patina but that is my opinion and plus the truck belongs to you so what meters is the vision you have for it so my apologies for not explaining my self properly on my previous comment I wish you the best of luck on your project I'm sure with the help of your friends you gonna achieve your goals and learn along the process young men once again good luck and all the best. Ps.I have subscribed to your chanel I don't want miss this 👍

@@PauloLima-bm3eo I know I love the patina look too but unfortunately it doesn't fly with my mother parked in her tract home driveway lol. Definitely going to need to weld in some new sheet metal where rusted through and some other bodywork before sand blast and paint. Thanks for subscribing!
