I have a 2004 LS 430 that my wife and I had planned to drive into the ground. One owner, like this one, out of Santa Barbara with meticulous service history. Unofrtunately, she was involved in a hit and run and they wanted to total the vehicle out because of a bumper cover and fender that needed to be replaced. A little back and forth with the insurance company and they finally decided that it's worth more than they originally determined and it is no longer a total loss! We are in the process of getting it repaired and can't wait to have it back. It has 170K miles on it and clearly has a ton of life left in it. Our plan to drive it into the ground lives on! Anyway, my boss back in the early 2000s told me WA was a car person's paradise as the mild winters and rain and lack of salt made it so they don't rot or rust. I did see a lot of classic cars as daily drivers there, many diesel Mercedes and old Datsuns and Subarus. I heard they started salting the roads after 'snowmageddon' so maybe this old tale no longer applies. Oem parts are NOT the way to go alot of the time for alot of reasons, some being aftermarket sometimes fixes weak or badly designed original parts. Not all aftermarket parts are junk. I've done my brakes with Brembo parts, for instance, and they are good quality. There are also aftermarket parts identical with the OEM, just w/o the logo and w/o the premium price tag. And with old cars, many times you get what you can find...

Amazing to see these cars last as long as they do. You’re doing an awesome thing trying to get it to 1M miles! 🙌🙌

This is the equivalent of buying an old house and remodeling it for flipping or otherwise. Love it! You could use a laser pointer for showing some stuff, the camera focuses on your hand and blurs the section that you want to show. And I assume if the previous owner had brought it to you for repairing you would have suggested him to trash it altogether, right?

You are so good with these cars or engine reviews, I was busy doing my thing when YT suggested your video and you made it so interesting that I spent the next hour watching - I'm subscribing!

"fight with the seats" ?!! ? 22-yo car, 630k miles and you expect it to be pristine? Where's the logic in that? The car is a gem the way it is. It could easily drive 300k+ more

I’m all in. I can’t wait to see more videos. I’m sure the transmission will come back to life with some maintenance. Toyotas go forever with a little maintenance.Rust is the enemy, so see you at a million miles.

You just contradicted yourself. They all rust and therefore do NOT run forever.
@1maitland100 Жыл бұрын
@@seanm3ify I live in Florida and also have a Toyota in Jamaica that have no rust and they just keep going and going.

Let’s gooo! Inherited a “sickly” neglected 02 (but only 120k miles) and did the timing belt using your other 430 video. Going to keep eyeballs on this project.

I think its great so far, to the inside/outside. You are a Mechanic. You can fix it for less money than anybody else. You know this project makes sense not like some others I have seen. Thanks.

AMD, This is a surprise to say the least. Was "Do What I Say Don't Do What I Do" an alternative title for this video? When many of us wished you would replace your Mercedes S Class with a Lexus LS, this is NOT what we had in mind. 😉🤣😱
