This is the son mentioned in this video. My father turned 80 this year and for Father’s Day I wanted to gift him a true luxury car to drive while he still can. This will be the nicest car my parents ever owned being frugal old-world immigrants. This channel is part of our nightly television programming as a family and I am truly honored that AMD offered to make a video so that my dad could watch it back in NY. He would have loved to visit the shop but IL is a bit far for him to make the trek. We are truly touched by the lovely comments, they brought a beaming smile to his face as he read them. We are truly grateful to AMD and The Car Care Nut community for making this so special for us. Thank you ❤

Sadly, Covid took him a few years later and the LS passed along to my cousin who still enjoys it. So this car is a meaningful gift for a father and this episode brought a tear to my eye.

That rear diff has a number on it? That normally means junkyard parts. Oh... and the LS460 also has a seat filter. I was chasing smoke smells in my used LS after going over the entire car and found a post on clublexus about the seat filter. It's a round filter and not as expensive. Once I replaced that and did one more cycle with 03 the smell is gone =). Great car great video I think this is a great present from this kind son.

Parts quality has gotten horrible the last few years. You may pay a little more but everything working the first time is worth it. Love the channel thank you sir.

Yeah stick with toyota parts for stuff like that. If you do your research, the balancers and things like that are generic you can get high quality aftermarket, stuff like that is fine. Axles.. bearings, things that are mechanically critical and hard to change, nah lol, not worth it.

I bought a used 2006 LS430 with 9200 miles in 2008. It just passed 101,000 and has been dealer maintained. What a JOY! Drove 1,000,000. Miles for business in GM cars Chevy, Pontiac,Olds, Buick, Cadillac. After retirement, bought the LS430 and did 15 seasonal trips to Florida with 16-17 hour non stops. Absolutely painless. Wish I had the 430LS when pounding the road for business. As a 86 year old, I know your 80 year Dad will be ecstatic with this when renewed. The cost of maintenance has been ridiculously modest.

I have just done something similar for a younger guy whose father died and left him something a lot cooler than any Toyota. His dads 1957 Thunderbird had sat for 17 years and was poorly maintained mechanically prior to that.. 45 parts and assemblies were necessary to make it mechanically sound, most of them involving the brakes and cooling system, but also a transmission tailshaft housing which was damaged and is only accessible by removing the engine and transmission as those cars had no under car access to the transmission due to the X type full frame. Much more enjoyable that the usual Toyota/Lexus timing belt, strut, brake, axle bearing and rack and pinion replacements which have been over 50% of my jobs over the last year.

Wow, what great gesture and fantastic choice of car. I recently considered an LS430, but ended up going with a 2011 Lincoln Town Car. The tiebreaker for me was that I know much more about the Ford Panther platform and have worked on a few of them, so the Lincoln was the more familiar choice. I like to do as much of my own work and maintenance as possible, and the Town Car seemed to have a slight edge in that category, but I know the LS430 has a bit nicer interior as well as little more power. They are both extremely reliable and long-lasting vehicles when maintained well.
