I had a Toyot Aygo version for about 10 months. Now I'm a 6ft 3" rugby player at 115kg, and I took my 6ft 1" 130kg team mate with me to match and my wife found it very comical. Had loads of space and was surprisingly nippy! Great car.

They are nice little nippy cars. Had a 107 as my first car then after my second car selling due to ulez ended up with a Citroën C1 and now another newer 107. Will be selling that soon and keeping a vw up which is a lot better I have to say with equipment and refinement

These are great, that engine is bullet proof! I actually went to a breakdown on one, wouldn’t start, and when it did it ran poor. The bloke only had it a month. Turns out he’d been putting diesel in it. And the mixture had fallen under the petrol : diesel ratio and packed up, so I put 20L of super unleaded and it went. And he drove her back to Manchester from south wales, topping it up with petrol every now and then 😂😂😂

Great video once gain Matt. You really can't go wrong with a cheap, little car. My wife and I live in Kyoto city and we bought a 14 year old Suzuki Alto with a little 657cc engine last year, which is perfect for blasting round the city. It also surprised me though when i took it on a 3 hour highway blast back to my wife's hometown. We bought it with just 47,000km on the clock for the equivalent of around 700 pounds. Its automatic, has 4 electric windows, A/C, electric, folding and heated mirrors. It's an absolute pleasure to drive, never put a foot wrong (or wheel) and even after 15 years it still smells new. As much as I would love to drive around in a Range Rover, or at least something bigger, until we move out of the city, then I will be an advocate for the city car.

Bought one for the wife 8 years ago as a stop gap. Now use it myself for work. It’s now 11.5 years old and never failed an MOT. Total costs in 8 years, new battery £40, front brakes £35, 2 new back exhaust boxes £95, tyres now £50 for budget, £75 for top of range. Zero road tax, low insurance - at one point £110 per year.

These are amazing little cars - In 2017 a few mates and I joined the c1 racing club who race the Citroen variants in 3/4/6 and 24hr Enduro events - we bought a 2012 cat N donor and the engine in that car has done 4x24hr races with no issues (they all have to be kept to std spec, no tuning to keep costs down) - you can take them up the rev range to the limiter which at Silverstone, on the Hangar Straight, depending on which gearbox you have, gives an indicated 103mph in third!! And providing you don’t try to use engine braking (which you don’t need to) and over rev them on a downshift they don’t break. They are so much fun that team mates of mine who have collections of supercars have bought one to hoon around in, they are as you say the latter day Mini - they do however rust and one we bought recently (2010 variant) was like a sieve - probably a coastal car!! Great content Matt keep it up…….

After decades of owning all sorts of cars & motorbikes, I bought myself a 107. I was expecting miserable driving ahead of me but the exact opposite was true. I absolutely love it. It's not fast and the handling isn't great or in any way inspiring yet despite this, it's just so much fun. It feels like I'm driving a little buggy and I love the stripped out basic character (I didn't think I would.) It's refreshing to be rid of all the android crap, the gadgets, the touch screen bling and all the driver aids. I love just having a steering wheel, a gearbox, a radio and nothing else. I feel like I'm driving a car again rather than piloting a computer on wheels. The radio sounds tinny but I'm not going to change it because it just adds to the character of the car. It actually reminds me of my youth in the 1980s and my first cars from that decade. Oh and the exhaust and engine tone is a peach. The engine has so much spirit. No power but bags of character. The advantages of having no power is that you enjoy driving at slower speeds. It's pretty pointless having a 350bhp monster for the sort of driving I do around town anyway. My advice to anyone considering buying one is do it. Just remember you're not buying a performance car or a luxury car. Go in with the right attitude and you'll love it. I thought I might get bullied on the road in my 107. It happens. I can ride a 125cc scooter in the morning & be treated like shit by drivers yet I get on my 1000cc Kawasaki in the afternoon and the traffic parts to let me through. Interestingly people don't bully me in the 107. I think it's because they don't see me as a threat or a challenge. They probably think I'm just some middle-aged dude in his shopping car with no interest in cars or driving. They're wrong but that's fine by me. Conclusion: A great car for people who like cars.

I’ve got a 2014 107. This replaced a 330i. We love it and can’t think of anything that is more fun. Just done 310 miles in three days and no aches or tiredness. The damp may be because of damaged flaps behind the rear bumper if it wasn’t fixed properly. New seals for the doors and regular silicone spray sorts then]m out. It’s fully galvanized so not structural problems! Had this ours for 6 years and the only cost outside servicing has been brake disks and pads! Love the roller-skate!

Dad was in his mid 80`s and his driving not so good? but other than a clutch (due to his driving) and a battery it served him faultlessly until he gave up driving at 92, sold easily, i could have sold it 5 times..

Bought a 10 plate C1, 2YRS ago for £400, its a starship enterprise with 183k miles but uses no oil and still going strong. Great little runabouts or 1st car.

I gather that owners in Japan don't keep their motors long and so don't bother to have them serviced, so engines have to be suitably bullet-proof.

A trip down memory lane this one (for many of us by the looks of the comments!) - I had a 2009 C1 and put 100k on it in 4 years. Nothing broke. It swallowed people and work stuff on a regular basis and was just a brilliant, versatile, reliable little buzz-box. I think the only possibly criticism I could make is, it was pretty noisy; there was no money spent on sound-proofing. I'd have another one in a heart-beat, and it's easy to see why they're good sellers.

I've got a 2013 Aygo on 121k, still going strong. Leaking in a lot of water and burning as much oil as it does fuel, but still going. It wont die. It's a cat d too because it got a bad scuff on the rear arch...

Obviously not the sort of car that I would buy, but very impressed by how much room there is, and the practicality of the car. I still find it incredible that good used vehicles can be bought at such low prices in this country - I lived in Australia redacted a few years, and something like that would fetch at least thre times the price you are asking.

I totally agree these make a fantastic first car. They can start rattle and to burn oil at high mileage but keep them topped u and They go on and on. My wife had a 2 tronic but she has an automatic license needed clutch at 70k There are a couple things to watch out for. The bonding on the back window can fail over time and cause the windows fall out. The electric power steering can be quite expensive to fix. And the VVT can get gummed up if the oil isn’t changed regularly. My cousin has a c1 1.4hdi a very rare car was her mums as gone down through the family it’s know when I serviced it last week it’s on 280,000miles But my maté’s daughter had a very big crash in one and they stood up very she walk away with only very minor injuries. But I would highly recommend these as a first car my daughter isn’t impressed though.

First car was a red 51 plate Peugeot 106. I wish I never got rid of it. It never let me down. Had it for four years and the most I spent outside of the MOT was £50 for an exhaust back box. Surprisingly nippy and great on the country lanes. Would have loved a 1.6 GTi over my little 1.1 though.

Great video as usual Matt! The one I watched immediately prior to this one was the one featuring the Bentley Bentayga! I’d love to see a video on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. I sold tons of Rolls-Royce and Bentley at Bauer Millett in the 80’s and 90’s so I’d be interested in a modern car dealer giving his opinion on a car I think represents how a beloved marque seems to have lost it’s way with this model! Admittedly, I would sell various vital organs for a modern Ghost or Dawn, but the Cullinan just leaves me cold. Just wondering, have I missed something?

We’ve had our 2014 Peugeot 107 for about 4 years, and it’s a great little car, really nippy, and mobile… Other good thing is that the engine hp means we don’t need to pay car tax, due to its low emissions…really reliable, and has never failed it’s MOT, not even an advisory so far… Only slight issue is that, if you don’t take it for drive for about 10 days in cold weather (as we’re using other car) then battery dies, so have to recharge it…but that’s more our own fault… Slight update on the battery, we've since replaced the battery, and now no longer have the above issue.

Have always said that about these being the new version of the original Mini, but they are way better in so many ways, Minis used to rust before your eyes yet these dont seem to suffer, we had one for the kids to learn in, changing the front disks and pads was cheaper than doing the ones on my mountain bike. Neighbour has a 2008 one, it just sits outside, year in year out and never changes. See care companies running them, they do huge mileages, never really heard of one breaking, clutches on the earlier ones are a weak spot and the indicator stank, other than that, very little.

I totally agree, these are brilliant little things. Rust is starting to kill off earlier examples, but that's life. The main weakness on the engine in my view is the small oil sump. As you say, people don't service them. They do tend to burn a bit of oil so if you never check, the engine will very quickly run low and cause damage. Water pumps alwas fail around 80-100k miles, but it's a cheap fix if you catch the fault in time. Last one I bought was £250. The reason it was so cheap was it was leaking petrol. The cause of the leak turned out to be the fuel line came unclipped from the sender, presumably from someone jumping on the back seat (a known issue). Clutches only last around 40k miles, but it's not a big job to replace.

My wife had a 2 tronic we had to change the clutch at 70k But you need the computer to put the actuator in to sleep mode before you do the clutch. And back windows on five door model when the bonding brakes down and falls out. But they are a great first car

mines at 70k no issues so far! my service history is fantastic really. i wanna say i used to drive approx 110-130 miles a week on £25/£30 petrol which was a blessing as a sixth form student & working 5/6 days a week. very economical; i could not have asked for a better first car & it's great to learn general maintenence, etc. i'm hoping to learn how to service it when i'm back from uni. how would i keep an eye out for water pump failure?

For some reason, the paint - or at least the protective coating on top of the paint - really loves to flake away on the Peugeot 107. I don't know what they used for it, but it definitely seems to be much more common than in other car models.

This was my first car. C1, 2006, no aircon, no Bluetooth, manual roll down windows, water leak, door handles snapped off, cracked hazard button, you name it. I had it almost 2 and half years, was rusty no doubt but never failed me in terms of never starting. Defo spent more money on it than I should but it taught me real life regular driving after I passed. I drove from Yorkshire to Disney land paris and back in that car, no issues at all. It really didn't want to stop going. One day as I was topping up the oil I noticed orange gunk splattered all over the engine bay from the coolant - radiator - terminal. I thought I'm over this now, so begrudgingly sold it (I called it Stevie) and sobbed like a fool when Stevie was driven away. Still gutted 7 months later but I have another great reliable car, Hyundai i10 which actually has a/c and electric windows😂never forget Stevie though 😭
