I was surprised to see one of these pop up on the channel. My mum got one of these last year, her first "new" car purchase in over 22 years and her 4th Vauxhall - loyal to the end. I have to say, it suits her well. Hers is on a much higher spec - air con, electric windows, electric door mirrors, steering wheel buttons, etc. - which was a complete novelty to her as it's her first car with any of these features - and in cobalt blue. She wouldn't have gone near it if it was red, she hates the colour. She paid a bit more (around £4,000) but it had less mileage (50,000 approx) and was newer so it was worthwhile. For her needs, commuting to work, to the shops, etc., it's perfect and economical. The head and footroom in the back is very impressive for a small car and the seats can be folded down in a matter of seconds - it's a very impressive little car and will hopefully prove to be pretty reliable.

I'm still amazed how much difference a good clean, new plates and clean wheels actually makes! I'm pretty sure the only reason this car came in under budget is that it's such a low spec example that there was nothing to spend money on. Matt has literally been saved from himself...😂

I bought a RAV4, drove it 2 years, cleaned it up and did a few little things, sold it for the same price I got it from the dealer. If you respect the car (by at least cleaning it) and can prove it, people pay accordingly.

My missus is on her 2nd one in 10 years. Absolutely loves it. It is actually a Suzuki with a Suzuki engine and a Vauxhall badge, and they rune like a sewing machine. Even the lads at my Vauxhall dealership said they are the best car that Vauxhall have ever sold, and very rarely ever see one in for repairs....unlike most of the other models. A fine fine car indeed, and as you said, not a bad looker either.

Thank goodness for a real car being updated and given a new lease of life. This is what normal people look out for- so little to go wrong, simple, capacious and cheap to run. Windey windows are quite manageable for most people who have been trained in old cars, and they are very simple to operate it would appear, almost anyone can use them. Love these obscure models, no one knows about them, but they hold the bottom of the market together for ordinary people just trying to get by. Well done Matt, cracking video and very pleased about the happy budget ending.

Quite liked this model Agila, have used at least 3 when I was doing col/del job for Vauxhall dealer. The 1.2 suzuki engine ran like a sewing machine and averaged 45 mpg and was very quiet. Nice large comfy seats and lots of headroom and great visibility. Being tall they were a little twitchy on the motorway in crosswinds but as a town car they were great and they never seemed to need any workshop visits other than for routine servicing. The Design spec had alloys, elec. front windows remote c/locking and air con.

There is something refreshingly charming about no-frills cars like these. Its not stuck up or pretentious nor does it cost another mortgage worth per month of lease to run! They remind me of the basic type of car you might rent on holiday and rag around a spanish or greek island. This type of car is meant to be ragged everywhere and serviced little, and it will just keep on going, which is just as well because that GM 3 cylinder is a hateful engine, horrible in almost everyway

You know what you are talking about Matt and did a great job on this car. I bought one of these and ignorant people are really rude about it. But for me it does what a car should do. It was the most reliable car in Europe for many years and mine has yet to develop a fault in 12 years. Running costs are very low. Mine is much better equipped being top of the range and the 1.2 engine makes it fine in any situation. I bought it because it was spectacularly cheap despite being very low mileage and like new. It's nice enough to drive, has a raised seating position for my wife, van-like practicality for me and a small footprint to fit my parking space. The smart red paint has a clear coat and is still shiny unlike the faded red of other Vauxhalls. The car was actually jointly designed by Suzuki and Opel in Germany and is really a Suzuki Splash, built in Suzuki's factory in Hungary. I hope my next car is this good.

Off topic but I also watched that Harry’s Garage episode, I reckon you’ve got a couple of ready made customers there for L322s!

I'm only a quarter the way through this video. But if you don't say, "I overspent on this car" by the end, I'll eat a tenner. 😂 Edit: bugger. Currently eating a crisp ten pound note 😂

Looks like a good, honest car for someome. I didnt realise that anyone but Dacia still made such basic cars, though!

What a great little car ❤ if only brand new cars came with no electric windows nor central locking reminds me of a G reg Rover 216 SLI I had fantastic car with the Honda engine.

Cheap runabouts will always sell, and if I was in the market for one then I'd definitely consider one of these, or any other small car.

This is worthy of the Medium Peak Auto title! It's sold as the Chevrolet Spark in Canada.

Fair play on that one! Job jobbed so to speak..........well, apart from that missing "A" on the boot badge (could shave 0.01 seconds off the 0-60 dash, though)

These are a re badged Suzuki Spash. Vauxhall bought them from suzuki fitted slightly different bumpers and lights and charged more for them than the equivalent Suzuki. My wife has a splash as a teaching car, they are un burstabl. The 2 petrol engines are from Suzuki the diesel is from Fiat.

I'm looking for a small auto for my daughter and one of these with a higher spec cropped up locally. Well she wasn't having any of it and even with limited knowledge of cars she could see it had old person written all over it. Shame as underneath the granny wagon exterior there's a decent and reliable little runabout.

Beautiful little motor. The amount of cars I've had with all the toys in them are a pain when they go wrong, with these basic little cars, they good fun and not so much to go wrong.
