Really nice truck, I guess the rear main seal and the exhaust problems which are not terminal but are substantial problems. I would just clean up the main seal and see what it is like in a couple of months as it doesn't look too bad and it saves pulling the transmission but the exhaust really has to be done now and it would be interesting to see that problem fixed and if the wizard uses a different bolt for it to prevent it happening again.

Can someone explain the difference between a Ford 150 and a 250 please?
@bwofficial1776
@bwofficial1776 Жыл бұрын
@@philtucker1224 Sure. The F-250 is larger and has a higher payload capacity and tow rating. The frame is thicker, the suspension and axles are stronger, and the engine options are bigger and more powerful. The F-250 has a different body to fit the larger components and differentiate it from the F-150. It's intended for heavier work or towing than the F-150. The F-350 likewise has an even higher capacity than the F-250. It's the same difference between a Silverado 1500 and 2500 or a Ram 1500 and 2500. The F-150 is a nice balance of size and capability for daily driving. Since pickup trucks have gotten so good, most people choose the F-150 because they don't need the F-250's extra capability or lesser fuel economy. You would buy an F-250 if you had a big trailer or just want a really big pickup. The F-250 is a large vehicle even by American standards. It's fun to drive because you feel like you rule the road.

I can anecdotally attest to the reliable of the 6.2. My brother had owned one for about 6 years and has had no problems. And when I mean no problems, I mean literally ZERO problems. The alternator did go out after he got it stuck fender deep in mud. It’s actually been just as reliable as my 4Runner. I’d pick this motor over any new EcoBoost, I don’t care how much more powerful or efficient they are.

Absolutely! I've only ever had one 6.2 in the shop...for exact same thing, alternator. I've got at least 1 or 2 Ecoboost v6's and 4 cyl's in the shop a week! Usually due to the incredibly small oil feed lines to the turbos and lack of maintenance... Blows the turbos Everytime.

To be fair, that's the case with most modern cars. Our 2017 explorer is about 8 and a half years old. It has the incredibly durable 3.5 duratec v6. Zero issues with anything on the car , not a single factory part has been replaced in 8 years. That's a very common trend with the 2011-19 explorer. Just like any car, you'll occasionally see someone on Internet forums who had an issue. But the overwhelming majority of people have shared our experience. The highest mileage one I've seen had around 480k miles on it, and was the highest mileage police car on record, at least for that state, if not the county.

I love mine. It's my second vehicle. It's practical for moving things and towing, luxurious for a truck, great in snow, and of course there's the Baja... In addition to smaller camping trips, every year I do 2 weeks of dispersed camping out west. Last month it was Moab and southwest Colorado. Incredibly comfortable, both getting there on the interstate and off-road...hauling 2 weeks of gear. Easily dispatches Imogene or any other Pass and all but the most hard core of rock crawling. Did 85mph across sandy wash sections of the the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands. It's a bit thirsty, but not as bad as the 11.9mpg Hoovie is getting. I've see 15mpg+ hailing a 14 foot trailer on the interstate. About the only pain is access to some of the sparkplugs (and coils)--and there's 16 of them!

I mean you can't really put the 6.2L above the 7.3L powerstroke. There are so many 7.3L powerstrokes with well over a million miles (or equiv with thousands of idle hours). That thing was really overbuilt and pre-EPA screwing up diesels forever. Yea the 5.4L3V was flawed with too small of an oil pump, but if you change the oil aggressively and only use full synthetic you can extend the life of those phasers for a long time. And it is fixable with an aftermarket oil pump. And the 5.0L replacement has been solid. Even severely neglected examples of those are still puttering along with hundreds of thousands of miles.

Yes you do need a parking brake (it's not an "emergency brake"). It's super hard on automatics to not use it (and that's probably why it's busted from lack of use). Not using it is why it's hard to shift out of park in automatics because the entire weight of the vehicle is resting on the parking paw and REALLY hard on the shit mechanism and parking paw. Use the damn parking brake on all cars. This is why it's an automatic thing on modern cars.

LOL...shit mechanism! Everything you say is true though. My brother told me recently he thinks his transmission is going bad because it clunks sometimes shifting out of park. His driveway is on a slight incline so I told him to use the damn parking brake and what do you know, no more clunk.

Very interesting I would love an American pick up here in France to tow my 2800 kg work trailer . Was thinking Dodge ram V8 mid 2000's as we have E85 here and to keep fuel costs sensible it needs to run on it as here it is 0.95 euros a litre verses 1.85 for unleaded or 1.72 euros for diesel . Shame the cheapest ready registered F150 raptor version in France is 40k euros !!! Maybe I should import one myself !
