Nice to see a video Justin - I’m a bit like you as in I got tired of the new cars I was driving and have ended up with a “project” car, not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a 07 plate Audi TT Mk2 - OK, I think some think of them as a “hairdressers” car but I’m really enjoying getting back to basic driving and some tinkering, which new cars don’t allow - look forward in your coming vlogs, hasta luego😀

I was hoping to get back into an Mitsubishi Evo 9 MR but prices now are 3 times higher than when I purchased my then new 2006 Evo MR in 2006😲. So I'm in a MK7.5 VW GTI at the moment. Lovely car. I bought a 2018 Mk3 ST, turning the traction control off & keeping it in a straight line with a heavy foot puts the fear of god in me & it definitely reminds me of the XR3i I had when I was a sprocket.

Totally agree @fezza. I too have turned my back on modern and new. All too heavy, too big and too fast with too many driver aids to have fun on many public roads. Many engineer out the driver. Old school, light weight, modest power, and thrash it. That’s where the fun is for me.

Yay! Welcome back (again)! I totally agree about modern cars. Characterless, chuffin' expensive for what they are, heavy, and nothing that makes me actually like them. I was mentally going through the "interesting" cars on the market the other day, and I just couldn't think of a new car that I would want. Plenty of super efficient diesel/electric/hybrids that would transport me effortlessly and efficiently, at the cost of a small terrace house in the early 2000s. As German manufacturers get increasingly obsessed with the Chinese market and the abolition of new internal combustion engines in 8 years, I can't see things changing for the better. Life should be enjoyed, not tolerated, so good for you! Contrary to what many people think, softer springs/dampers may well give you better road holding. Oh yeah, and 300bhp will tend to give you torque steer and mega turbo lag. But I think you know that ;)
@FezzaYT
@FezzaYT Жыл бұрын
Hi mate! Yeah, the future doesn't look like much fun! I was thinking about softer springs the other day, just to make it more comfortable for when the gf is in the car, so that she's not bouncing all over the place 😅

As a 20 year old the Mk1 RS was my poster car. I completely get the “analog” driving experience you are enthusiastic about. I have owned a Mk3 RS since new alongside a 2001 Ford Puma 1.7 which I have fitted an LSD too and use mainly for track days. The Mk3 RS is a great car and I love it, but the Puma is a complete hoot and has me laughing out loud. You have to work hard and rag the nuts off it to get the best out of it, and it loves to lift-off oversteer which means I never truly trust it (or my ability to catch it) but the end result is a raw, involved and exciting experience. The RS on the other hand is brilliant fun but I know that much of the excitement is the result of the technology rather than my ability to tame it (or not)!

Utterly fantastic cars! I had one when it was about 18 months old and loved every single mile I drove it. The handling was amazing (until the tyres wore), admittedly the interior was and still is a bit garish but who cares. I live in Somerset and bought it in Liverpool from the most unassuming guy that you would never have expected to have been into them, but he bought it new when he retired. He told me on the phone that he was a member of an Advanced Motorists Association and he had never taken it over 60mph which I found doubtful until I saw him and the car. I also very much rectified his self imposed speed limit on the way home due to someone in a Porsche Boxster S that thought his car was quicker until we had both reached double the speed limit. Hopefully you'll continue enjoying it Justin and it'll provide you and us with more content!

Hi Justin, good to see you back mate. I get what you are saying about newer cars, do you remember my Corolla Gti back in the day? I loved that car, but living in the States now, the choice of older hot hatches is almost none existent. You see the odd interesting car on BaT that people have privately imported, Delta Evo's and stuff like that are going for mad money. I sold my '17 WRX recently because the used car market here is crazy and I couldn't turn down the money that I got. I am now thinking/hoping that a Corolla GR is in my future, but with limited availability, we will have to wait and see. I still have my '99 Boxster, it's fun but a little slow. Get in touch soon, we need to catch up mate! Cheers, Andy.

Love this. I daily drive a 260whp mk1 focus and you are absolutely right about them being a riot to drive. And yes, with the Quaife the act of overtaking or any WOT input where the wheels aren't pointed straight can catch an unwary driver out. Add in the quick weight transfer, short wheelbase, and no driver nannies and this car can catch you out. But damn are they fun to drive.
