I’m new to your channel. This video popped up in my feed. I’ll have to watch your renovation. We lived in Savannah for a year on East Duffy Street two blocks from the south side of Forsyth Park. We loved living in Savannah, but we couldn’t afford to stay. I tell most people that Savannah is a wonderful place to visit, but not the best place to live. I taught in the public school district there and we had to do a poverty simulation as part of new teacher orientation. 80% of the population is at or below the poverty line and they have a very large homeless community there. Most people I worked with lived outside of the downtown area. The only people who lived in downtown Savannah were very rich. We lived in a duplex on the top floor with SCAD students on the lower floor. Sadly, we just couldn’t afford to stay. I miss it every day though and love coming back for vacations when I can.

I am so jealous! We live in Vegas I’m originally from Illinois but my daughter and her wife moved to South Carolina almost 2 years ago now and I am disabled and cannot get to her she’s just too far. Savannah is one of the places that I wouldn’t mind moving to, it’s just so picturesque. Congratulations my dear.

5:55 But how is it that I know exactlyyyy where you are bc I love that shop so muchhhhh!!! The student center next door used to have a lime green grand staircase (of my dreams). Still waiting for the day I can build a lime green staircase in a house of mine. Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room is just a few blocks away and has delishhhhh fried chicken and the best sidesss. Also, Asher + Rye has yummy coffee and is a cute store. Collin's Quarter has a bomb avo toast and yummy food overall (it has a couple of locations). Honestly, love Savannah so much can't wait until I visit again.
