I used to work on the Daihatsu version of Kei trucks when I was in the USAF. Ours topped out at 20mph though...

I put 14” rims on my 98 acty and no issues with rubbing 165/60 14 tyres

These are 13” wheels with a 175/70-13 tire.

I have gathered a ton of new parts! Currently working on fixing all the dents to prepare for a new paint job then I will get started on all the other modifications. Last month the truck lost all power and wouldn’t run. I had to remove the carburetor and replace both solenoids. Now it is running better than it ever has since I’ve owned it!

so 13'' wheels work with the acty and dont rub on the fenders? Been trying to figure out best way to get bigger wheels without a lift.

They scrub the slightest bit if you are at full lock to either side. So I think 13” is probably the biggest wheels you can put on these without a lift or spacers.

I’m running a 175/70-13 and so far no rubbing. I don’t have a spacer but the distance between the spring and the tire is only about an inch so it’s pretty tight.

Did you gain any top end speed when you switched to 13 inch tires?

I don’t think it helped much with max speed but it definitely helped make the ride more comfortable and less bumpy.

It should have a slower theoretical top speed with a larger outer diameter. The rim is also larger, and heavier, which adds rolling resistance. You want a smaller lighter wheel and tire for top speed

@@jamesbradley2468this is actually incorrect. Your top speed will be higher with a larger diameter tire. This is exactly how Golf Cart owners raise their top speed: larger tires. The downside is your initial acceleration speed is slowed by larger tires. I have a modified Yamaha golf cart with a lift and larger tires. This raised my top speed to about 28mph. But my acceleration from zero was sacrificed unfortunately.

Yes, I plan on keeping them just incase I sell the truck in the future and the next guy wants the original wheels.

Really depends on the options and overall condition. Non A/C vs A/C and 2wd vs 4wd can change the price substantially. I would say generally you can find a good truck with no rust in the 6-8k range

All purpose cleaner and a brush. Rinsed off lightly and then blew everything out with compressed air.

You have to take into consideration, year, mileage, 4wd or 2wd, ac or non ac, and overall condition (some trucks have bad rust from Japan). You can find these trucks usually priced from 6k all the way up to 15k. I would try to find one that has already been titled and registered to take out the hassle of dealing with DMV.

I’ve been daily driving it and haven’t had any issues. The 13” wheels and bigger tires made a huge difference in ride quality.

In Japan it’s what they’re used for. It depends on what your commute is like

Yes, as long as you don’t have to get on any major interstates for your commute this truck will keep up with traffic just fine. I would also do your research when it comes to the safety of these trucks. Minimal crash support and no airbags makes them more dangerous than your modern vehicle if you get in an accident.

You would be surprised at the amount of room. But I think probably anything over 6’2” would be pushing it.

Clean, low mileage, with A/C you are probably going to have to spend around $7500. You can sometimes find them for less but might be a little rough.
