Something you might find interesting is that male mourning geckos do exist! They’re rare, and infertile, but they pop up occasionally
@BrokenCurtain8 ай бұрын
If they're infertile, then how do they continue to pop up?

I’m sure the females make the eggs themselves and by chance they pop up idk

Congrats to your little gecks! But they can change their color from a really light yellow/cream to dark brown/almost black depending on mood/temperature/surroundings. I have a small army of them and find them delightful, although they can get a little loud in the night.😅

It is quite nice to hear them chirping at each other at night, and the colour changes are cool. Mine typically go white at night or when stressed, and stay brown during the day
@iceteajuice80248 ай бұрын
@@BioXoticLife They're no where near as loud as tree frogs but they do little cute barks it's usually them deciding the hierarchy, claiming territory or sometimes even just saying "Look there's fresh food."

I once found a lizard's egg on the ground in the Malaysian jungle. It was white, with a leathery shell, and about the size of a lark's egg or slightly smaller than a blackbird's. I wish I had tried to hatch it out, but I just put it back. It might have been the egg of a flying lizard, draco volans, which was fairly common in the area. One morning I went to put my jungle boots on and there was a flying dragon inside one! Better than having a snake, which were also common, some of them, like the red headed krait, very poisonous. House gecko's are very common in that part of the world, and i used to watch them stalking insects across the ceiling. They would be just the thing for insect control in the giant tropical green houses of Cornwall's Eden Project.
