This video is part of my vlog not a stand alone video silent random house tour. It was requested so I made it with the intention of answering as many questions as I can by the lovely subscribers and making it relevant to my other vlogs to help those following understand where I’m going. I wanted to keep the video within a comfortable watch time and consistent with all my videos so apologies for the faster talking which I know will not be to everyone’s liking. On another channel, a young couple bought a ruin of sorts. Seeing the charm thru the rubble they quickly bought it.and started planning to renovate. They said getting inspections and permits largely went unnoticed and the costs to re-apply ate alot of their budget. Then waiting for building materials took a lot of time so a simple renovation took them three years and they had to pay to live elsewhere for a while further depleting their funds. Contractors for plumbing and electrical came later after they moved in. They just wanted people to understand that the service is slow especially in the rural villages where they are located so be prepared for extra money and patients in getting outside jobs. They are mostly finished now and have learned the language and dearly love their home

I've spent years purchasing and redoing homes in US and several were low cost homes ( enjoyed those the most ) and all different styles and ages . I'm subscribing as I really have to follow and watch how you tackle this mess . My first thought is that the owner should have paid YOU to take possession . Lol

Hi, thank you. The Algarve has many beautiful areas but this felt comfortable. My aunt and uncle lived in Ontario. In fact it was a family trip there When I was 11 that’s probably responsible for me wanting to be somewhere hot and amongst nature. We stayed at a place called Harmony raunch. Adults singing Barbershop songs at night next to a camp fire. I loved it. I remember huge toads and stars.

Beautiful house, love it. We recently fell in love with a similar derelict villa near the golfing resorts in mid Algarve, we looked it up, finally found it for 10.5 Million euros! Turns out it had land and pp for 22 houses. Ah well, it was a wonderful dream for a day 🥰 Best of luck, look forward to watching your work.

Do not dig up the cork trees they have a long tap root which if broken will kill the tree, plant your fast growing fruit trees around the slow growing oaks they will act as nursery trees bringing up excess water and nutrients to feed your new trees.

It is thanks. My experience on the previous houses stopped this being a shock and it’s not the end of the world. There is a cost but it will be worth it. Just have to go through the penny charge lol. Thanks for watching 👍

Hi, l think you have plenty of work on. Reinforced metal bars and a cement mixer with a pusher (large vehicle with a big pipe) to pour the cement directly onto your roof may be good. But may be your roof is not strong enough to take the weight of a few cubic meters of cement. I do wonder how good the footings have been made . Good luck with the challenges to come.

I’ll definitely be using a cement truck. I’ve done the mixing cement and winching up on roof. It was fun. I will be underpinning and doing a full inspection of roof before I start anything. Thanks, there will be challenges but I’m keeping everything in perspective.
