Hey guys, Jon here from the video and I first want to say that I am extremely grateful to Kyle for not just paying the full price I listed but also for letting me be a part of one of his videos as simply just meeting him in person had made my week. And second of all, to those that keep saying the same shit saying it was overpriced don’t have any context to it. I initially had wanted to sell this pc for $350-$400 (max if i was lucky) and I listed this price on many other platforms such as OfferUp and LetGo but I had been lowballed so many times and actually been flaked on several meetups. So as a result, I ended up raising the price to $550 out of frustration and because I expected people to haggle with me and bring it down to the price I wanted. And so when Kyle messaged me I was very skeptical about it because the place of the meet up was almost 40 min from me and he offered to pay the full price. Nevertheless, thats why the price was what it was. And for those who are saying that this was worth only $250 literally made me laugh. And I do understand that both the CPU and GPU are outdated but u guys do realize the SSD, HHD, case, fans, cpu cooler, PSU and most importantly 16gb RAM have value too? And since GPU/Ram prices are completely outrageous right now (LITERALLY a gtx 1060 back in November 2016 was $250~ and now finding one today in 2018 for $300 is considered a GOD Deal cuz they go for $380-$500 now) my point is I settled with this price even more so due to the inflation and the struggle it is to build a computer today. And finally I also took the time to wipe both drives and installing Windows 10 Pro that is activated with an AUTHENTIC license key. And I am sure that Kyle knew he was paying more than its actual value but I think he also went with it mainly for the content for us viewers and for the follow up video that I am hyped for. And so again I just want to thank Kyle for letting me be a part of his channel. It was amazing to meet his crew and I will cherish that moment for the rest of my life.

Thanks for sharing your story, Jon. I agree, the other hardware and Win10 Pro key are completely overlooked by a lot of commenters. Another thing I should have pointed out in the video was that I didn't want to risk scaring you away by asking for a lower price (happens all the time) and ruin my chance of creating the video that week. I've already posted a quick follow-up video to Floatplane that will drop here soon, but after hearing the feedback on this video, I may also make a piece on "how to haggle for PC parts" or similar since many viewers are upset I didn't do that here, despite haggling having *nothing* to do with this video haha. At any rate, it was great to meet you. Glad my money went to a good natured person in the PC community.

This video was recommended to me. I must say, I used to play Battlefield 1 at 1080p 60fps with a 2600k, 980 reference, and 8gb of 1600mhz RAM. It's remarkably well-optimized for older and budget systems. It's funny that I've only ever had problems running it on high-end hardware, or with under 8gb of RAM.

Electronics are water tight. But if it was plugged in then you could have a problem. Because ionized water is conductive. Then water on electronics can make paths for electrical current to flow where there should not be any and that will short components out.

Indeed we can only speculate. I still say it may have been a bit high, but based on what I've seen of the market it is far from ridiculous. I can see some folks paying it. But they'd weight the individual components differently than I do. I wouldn't have even powered the PC on with that PSU in it for instance. Why risk it? Others have their views too though. Which for them are as valid as mine are for me.

Kyle, when you have low VRAM, the extra spills over into system RAM. That's why you were at more RAM than you were thinking it should use.

I'm torn, because all these used parts videos coming out from various techtubers are legitimately helping some people, but at the same time, they are driving up demand and price the used price scene. A few months ago, gtx 970's were going for $190 or even less sometimes near me, now I can't find them for under $250. I guess this is just a symptom of the larger market shortage, but still, I'm salty that my hidden gold mine has more competition.

I'm lucky I got my EVGA 780 Classified before all this. Paid $99 buy it now on ebay. Not seen them at that price for a while now. Was upgrading from a 7950 that's not doing so hot. (it's.. slightly unstable at stock clocks. It's an XFX model with a crappy cooler and always ran hot. I think my OC was too agressive and it's flaky these days unless underclocked). Been wanting to get a Ryzen system for ages but Ram prices keep me away. Looked at used stuff but honestly it doesn't seem worth it, all the neat stuff, like OC'able CPUs are still expensive, or taking older cheap Xeons and OC'ing them require old/expensive/hard to find motherboards. Tech YES City did show some chinese boards but they look kinda flaky and not good for OC'ing. Over all it looks like it's a lot of hassle/risk to get the most out of these systems just to come close to a cheap Ryzen, and you're not saving much and have old hardware that could die sooner.

I had that motherboard, but it's the Z77A-G43 paired with a 2500k, got me through so many games and so many years. My roommate is using it now and it's still going strong, got a rx 570 with it and he's playing MW and Apex among others at high or even very high setting and doesn't dip below 60 FPS. It's a very good starting point for a gaming PC, I think just an upgrade to the GPU and you'd never know the processor and board are from almost a decade ago.

Electronics are hermetically sealed so water does not hurt them. When I worked in a board assembly house we ran every circuit board that we made through a dishwasher to get the flux off of them. But if you try to energize a circuit when it is wet that is a different story. Then you create unintended current paths and damage can occur. But it still wasn't the water that did the damage. it was running current through the system that burned things up. That electrical current will get to places where water can't.
